I was using a hyperbole to exaggerate my disdain for Taylor. I don't think they are really an evil corporation. My opinion is that Taylors don't sound good, are overpriced, and use their reputation to push guitars that sell because of their name and not quality.hcole wrote:How is tayor the evil corp. of the acoustic guitar world? I'm certainly not a taylor advocate, but I don't think they are anymore evil than Martin as far as acoustic guitar corps go. I know Martin has moved production of some of its lower level models to Mexico. I want to say the only thing Taylor has made in Mexico are its cases (I could be wrong though). I do think Taylors are hugely overpriced but consumers have created the demand. If people stopped buying them they'd sell cheaper. I also think Martins are a little overpriced, not nearly as much as Taylor though.KahnTheRevelator wrote:I'd have to go with Martin, just because I hate everything Taylor stands for. I think that when Taylor gets the kinks worked out of the electronics that this thing is gonna be the dominant guitar on the scene. Everybody at the NAMM show where the Taylor People tweeked all the settings to perfection thought it was incredible. Its just like the ES where it had all kinds of problems the first couple generations, but now its kick ass!!! Give it a few years and Im sure everybody, Dave included, will be playing this thing for live shows.

I totally agree, I dont know why any normal person would spend that much on a guitar..... but for musicians with money to burn it's not such a big deal. I wouldnt buy one, but then again I dont need a guitar to cut through a bands sound either.KahnTheRevelator wrote:Ok............ but good guitars don't need to be/shouldn't have to be tweeked. That's why you pay 2 or 3 or 4 grand for a guitar.

the thing about a 2, 3, 4 thousand dollar guitar is that you CAN tweak it and it will be easy to tweak, and it will stay where you put it, so you can have it exactly like you want it. you are supposed to 'tweak' them so it is set up exactly how you want it to play. ever notice how more expensive guitars have more 'tweaking' features? adjustable bridge, adjustable nut, and so on and so forth?

Allright, but my point is, after I spend a few grand on a guitar, I can't afford to be putting aftermarket this and that into it. I don't have that kind of money. If I save up countless paychecks and whatnot, I want a good guitar that doesn't pick up a radio, and doesn't need more money invested into it to make it sound good. That's why it's an expensive guitar........ it's supposed to sound good.i like tictacs wrote:you couldn't be more wrongKahnTheRevelator wrote:Ok............ but good guitars don't need to be/shouldn't have to be tweeked.
