that would really make this whole year...

but if they don't...I'll have to go to US this summer...would be nice. Never been there so a visit to the east coast would be great. One question..do you have to be a warehouse-member to get good tickets? And how much $$$ would I have to cough up to get good tickets? If I go all the way from sweden to NY or where ever...I want to make sure I don't get stuck behind a pillar or some fat bastard way in the back of giant stadium...or someplace

There is speculation that DMB might be having a European tour this summer. This is because Coran Capshaw (manager) said that DMB would be hitting up places they haven'ts played before.

THey also had some European dates planned for 2001, but, were cancelled because of the Sept 11th attacks.

Hope it gives yousome hope

Peace,
places they havent been before eh?
maybe theyll come to the aitken center here in fredericton!
highly doubtful cuz it only seats 8000
but i saw trey in st john and that place sat like 2000

you don't think where are you going and you never know and loving wings were straight forward and uplifting? i think loving wings and you never know are possibly the most uplifting songs he's ever written. granted, gravedigger is a little bit of a downer, but other than that all the songs he's written since the birth of the twins has been very uplifting.
johntherevelator wrote:its about god helping him get through his drinking problem
i've always thought it was just him asking god for forgiveness, not for drinking, necesarily, but just for his sins. the idea of "pour one up for me" not about alcohol at all, but more for god's love, forgiveness and strength to get him through the hard times. he feels like he's done something wrong and he wants god to forgive him and help him and keep him from ending up like Judas. my opinion, anyway.

i completely agree that it's about much more than drinking taddie. but i don't think it's a song of total repentance or anything like that. i've always thought it was a cry for something, anything, because he's not totally sure what's out there, to see him in his situation and deliver him from it.

precisely, you have to remember he wrote bartender during a time in his life when he was questioning everything. his step father had just died, the attempt at the lillywhites failed, and he was in a pretty deep depression. he wasnt quite sure what he wanted from god, but he didn't want to feel so down and wanted some kind of salvation, almost. the anguish in that song is so strong it's amazing, i love bartender, definitely one of my favorites.

yep, one of my faves, too, taddie. there's so much tension in it, i think mainly because dave really doesn't like the idea of a god, but yet at certain times he's forced to hope that there's something out there. it's lyrically his best, bar none, there will be no argument on it, because i am definitely right :).

ok, you can disagree if you want, but be prepared for a good battle.

i dont think i can compare his lyrics and put a medal on the 'best ones'
i think theyre all great
but very different in most cases, which makes them impossible to compare

like comparing tim and clapton

two styles so different you cant say whos better

agreed, just the balls to personify god in the form of a bartender (though not originally his idea, by the way) is just genius. he's shows that he isn't scared to talk about kind've risque religious ideas, like the outro dreamed i killed god. chops, man, real chops to sing, let alone talk about a dream you had about killing god. i think dave kinda stays away from the idea of god, and just kinda saying like there could be a god and there could not be a god, but i'm going to live my life to the fullest either way. on one of the dmb shows i have, he says something to the extent of "if i should ever meet god, and im not saying there is a god, not saying there isn't a god, but if i should ever meet....it. (because you can't say him or her because you don't know). if i ever..."

the one song that screws up and wont play is the one we were talking about
anyone else have this problem where the bartender/ddtw inspiration clip wont play?
He doesn't talk about Bartender and Dont Drink The Water at the same time. He comes back at the encore and says, " they told me to go back and talk about that bartender song..." its one of the last tracks on that site...

QUESTION FOR DAVE.....I have another question to ask Dave. Ask him if "Where The Red Fern Grows" will ever get off the ground and get finished. I'd love to see Dave showin' off his actin' skillz! :D

ask him if for all his guitar playing followers, could he possibly not only release a CD from the tour, but maybe an accompanying DVD, like Folsom Field and LS? A Dave and Tim DVD is something worth having....

Trust me that will be one of the first questions I ask him. I also want to ask him if he has ever considered doing an instructional video sort of like what Carter has done. I know all the Dave Fans would love to see that. :)

He'd probably say, "Well, you guys have DMBTABS.COM, what do you need that for?" :D
