Well I certainly think it spanks Stand Up pretty easily, I really like the album and am glad I pre-ordered it.
DMB shows attended: 4/12/05 - Molson Amphitheater, 9/12/06 @ Air Canada Centre.
Upcoming: DMB June 9th 2009 @ Molson Amphitheater

Wouldn't it be album comes out, then you tour?
It doesn't really come out mid tour, I would say that 6 days after the first concert really isn't mid tour to be honest unless they are only playing 12 shows

Thumbs Up: Grux, Lying In The Hands of God, Why I Am, Squirm, You And Me
Thumbs Down: Seven, Spaceman, Alligator Pie

Everything else in between. Lyrics are weak, but still way better than Stand Up overall.

That's about how I feel with the addition of SMLAM being above average.

I think what would have made this album for me, was if they took some of those jams they did in the studio, that didn't work as full songs, and maybe refine them a little bit into a quick binary or ternary song and put them as transitions like with BTCS.

Ya, that would of been money.

You forgot to add FWIW, followed by "not much".

 Yeah once you get to this part the article becomes laughable

Code: Select all

Matthews also roasts most of his conclusions with hot rusted electric guitars, played by himself and his longtime collaborator Tim Reynolds. It is a new wrinkle for a DMB studio album, and one too long in coming. The group's first big records, such as 1996's Crash and 1998's Before These Crowded Streets, were never as compelling to me as the live shows — particularly the spiraling sax-and-violin ascents propelled by Beauford and Lessard's fusion of funk and African rhythms — mostly because of the airy center left by Matthews' acoustic rhythm guitar.

For the record, I made my comment before reading it

It makes me uncomfortable when lyrics are overtly sexual. Is he singing, "dark little place for dicks to go" in Seven?

I really really hope not, but it certainly does sound like it. Though it could be dark little places he likes to go or gets to go as well. Either way its fucking horrible.

LITHOG is so good. Its too bad Leroi wasn't around long enough in the studio to really flesh out his parts, it sounds like Tim tries to take over where he left off.
