In case you have not heard seven. IMO it has it's moments but he just does not pull off the lyrics very well live. I bet it will be cool on the album though. I also think it's fair to say that was not a great performance of the song.

Also, it's funny that the best song so far isn't on the record. I have a feeling it has a lot to do with who wrote the song, or didn't for that matter. I bet the band only wants the shot they wrote to be on the record

"Like it's predecessor, Stand Up, the 13 track collection is tailored to sound like a classic DMB record." WTF????

Even if they meant it in that sense the statement still fails.

Sounds like it could be worse than meh. I was optimistic from the beginning but there hasn't been a song I've liked enough to even go back and listen to since the initial listen or two. And "Seven" was amongst the tracks that review listed as amazing compared to the mediocre first half of the cd.
So far, for me atleast..
FTWII - mediocre, don't hate it, don't really like it.
Spaceman - Love the instrumentals, don't like the vocals, overall; mediocre.
Why I Am - Absolutely hate it.
Beachball - good song, easily the best, and NOT on the album.
Seven - I'd rather listen to Girlicious.

The more I listen to these songs the more I realize I just can't get excited about DMB anymore. They will always be my all-time favorite band and I will always listen to their old stuff and at least check out the new stuff they put out. But I guess I've really gotten to the point where I don't care what they do anymore.
I'll get excited again when Dave goes solo.

Re: **Big Whiskey and The Groogrux King - 6/2/09**
Based on what we have heard so far, I think Big Whiskey and The Groogrux King will be an okay album, not great, but okay. Hopefully, songs such as Seven and Why I Am will not dominate the album. Personally, I was not a big fun of FTWII at first, but the it has really grown on me over the last couple of days. One song I'm really looking forward to hearing is Shake Me Like A Monkey. The clips that I have heard song amazing. Honestly, I'm surprised they have not played it yet during the Spring tour, but I'm sure that has a little to do with Roi not being there. Sadly, the best song new song, Beach Ball, isn't going to be on the album. Maybe it will make the next Live Trax. Though some of the new stuff has left me disappointed, I'm not going to judge the album or the band's efforts until around June 9. That way I have a solid week to get into the new album.
I think it'll be an improvement and mostly listenable and enjoyable. I like all of the new songs so far, though I haven't heard Seven yet, and, while they're obviously not the masterpieces the band used to be capable of, I'm pretty satisfied. I spent a long time being personally invested in albums and setlists, and it's just not worth it to me anymore. By not caring so much, I can enjoy this album for what it is, and I think I'll like it based on most of what I've heard so far.
