Did Dave Matthews make Tim Reynolds famous?

Yes, although he is a great guitarist Tim would not have gone very far/as far without the song writing talent that is Dave Matthews

No, Tim Reynolds is far talented enough to have made it on his own, and was popular long before he ever teamed up with Dave

Thought Tim actually discovered Dave, Dave was the one that really set tim in the direction he's going.. Tim was just a local act, now he tours with dave and is a basicly well-known guitarist..

I agree as well.. I was talking to one of my friends, and i told him about tim, and he listens to a bunch of European metal bands and stuff and after listening to tim, he said"I'm not impressed" though i think tim could outplay all of those european bands

good to see that most of you are being realistic about this although I'd hardly call him famous now...no one knows him as an individual outisde the whole DMB gig...

Ok Victor Wooten cannot be compared to anyone. Steffan is a pretty kickin bass player. I mean that'd be like saying "Yeah Leroi is good but nothing that Coltrane couldn't do"

just a comment......

in the vh1 Driven special on Dave Matthews they said that Tim Reynolds was popular in the Charlotsville music scene and served as a mentor at first for EDIT:Dave Matthews. I am not disagreeing that Tim probably wouldnt have been as well known w/o Dave, but just a thought :)

i think everyone in DMB or that has played with DMB has benefitted from the band, mostly dave, cause he'd be no where without the band, but timmy was popular in c-ville, so he'd probably be doing the same thing that he did with out the band, even if that doesn't mean fame
