im not saying its the reason his songwriting sucks now, im just saying its rather indicative of it. i can't really explain why i don't like it better than i already explained. all i know is that whenever it comes up on the cd, i skip over itgcom007 wrote:I agree that Dave's songwriting has gone down the tubes, but to pin it all on that song is ridiculous. I think it's a lot brighter and more endearing than half the other crap he's been putting out lately. It was about as perfect of a simple little song as can be. not too much and just enough and the lyrics are great.fatjack wrote:here's my opinion on the song:
i don't really care for it. its just a little too poppy, and its not because of the lyrics (i actually kinda like the lyrics). the reason i don't like the song is because its indicative of the downhill slope dave's songwriting has been going down. its just not as inspiring as other songs that he's written that show a lot more creativity. c'mon dave! lets write something that falls out of the key of D!

I'm not saying this to you FatJack...but what I don't get is how EVERYONE LOVED THE SONG when Dave debuted it solo at Farmaid(or wherever it was debuted). At that point, it was the NEW Dave song out that had a really catchy riff and some sweet(and in lovey dovey) lyrics.
Fast Forward to now and everyone hates the song because they hear it too much ON THE RADIO!!! What the hell does that mean? If you all of the sudden hate a song because you've heard it too much that's ludacris. First off....Don't listen to the radio....it's crap. Second off, how many times have all those same people heard Two Step....I guarantee you A LOT more times that WAYG. Granted Two Step is a much better song....but it's the principle of the matter.
I fucking hate it when people say they hate a song because they hear it on the radio. OK, let's say you listen to the radio for a total of 6 hours a day(ridiculous in itself). You may hear WAYG, WHEN IT WAS POPULAR, a total of 12 times.....and I persoanlly think that WAY overdoing it. Now, how many times have you heard it on the radio SINCE IT WASN'T "POPULAR"??? It's BARELY EVER ON....yet now people still "hear it too much". It's ridiculous and it pisses me off. I fucking love Satellite, Ants, WWYS, SMTS, WAYG, Billies....yet all these songs have been on the radio.
Oh yeah, if anyone is going around saying that they are sick of a song because they've heard it too much in concert in a given year..........DON'T GO TO SO MANY CONCERTS OF JUST DMB. And if it's from downloading EVERY DMB show......LISTEN TO SOME OTHER MUSIC!!!
I've said my piece.....but I WILL be getting selected to go to the Dave Solo show in NYC on the 4th!!! Don't know how....but I will

I wasn't singling you out by any means. Only you(as in everyone here...not you crash) know if ya actually liked the song before you heard it on the radio. I used to thing WAYG and Grace is Gone were the same songs. I wish he'd use WAYG more as a closer of an encore. I think the lyrics to WAYG are gorgeous, not at all a downword slope. The music just isn't that creative.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away
