Re: Re:
It's basically the country approach he's employing here. Which whatever, but it doesn't strike me as experimental so much as lazy. But I think most "honest and literal" lyrics are lazy. It sucks how it seems like getting old and having kids makes you boring as an artist.Nitro1515 wrote:Yeah of course we can't expect him to write about the same stuff as he did back in the day, but that doesn't mean the quality of what he writes needs to fall by the wayside as well. He's way too literal and in your face now, there is no symbolism or metaphors in his writing, it's just so straight forward and preachy.GSR wrote:I like this song. It doesn't have the lyrical depth of classic DMB, but I don't expect Dave as a 45-year-old father to be thinking and writing about the same things he was in his twenties.

Re: Re:
I wouldn't say that's entirely true. Check out the recent reissue of Paul McCartney's Ram. Or even the new Walkmen album.Evan wrote:I think happiness makes you a boring artist.Banjobach wrote:It's basically the country approach he's employing here. Of course, I'm generalizing, but it's true in a lot of cases.Mikey wrote:I wouldn't say that's entirely true. Check out the recent reissue of Paul McCartney's Ram.
