Eh he wrote it for a movie and the main character in the movie, they are pretty straight forward.

Yeah, but think about it. The line about the fly doesn't ask why when he pulls the wings off of it. It does make you think. Sometimes we take everything for granted, and we have to realize that in this case the fly doesn't even judge the person who is pulling its wings off. The fly, to its knowledge, believes that the person is doing it for the greater good,
when in fact the person should be stopped. However, our society just lets bad things like this go on and on. That's what I meant by though provoking.
O RLY??
And how should the government enforce a law against people pulling wings off a fly?

The government could not possibly stop anyone from doing that. I think that our government does as well as it can to stop what it can. Pulling the wings off of a fly is more symbolic than an actual fly to me. Picture a person who kills themselves by an overdose. Obviously it's hard to stop the drug trade, actually impossible, and bad things come of what our society cannot stop. The one line in the song could refer to a drug addicts regrets, "They always thought that somehow they could save me, But why, oh, why? For pity's sake, they should have saved themselves." That's why I said it was thought provoking.

Alright thanks man. I was sorta unclear on the whole thing of the gov't stopping such an atrocity to the species of flies. I'm glad you cleared it up or else I would have surely been in the dark about this matter.

You're welcome. I could see where you probably got confused. I didn't really say clearly everything that I was thinking in my head when I typed it the first time. Thanks for reading my clearer thoughts. I really like this song, and although the lyrics are probably just about the main character, they have a deeper meaning in my mind.
