whoa! I bought this bootleg in NY and it got all fucked up and I never thought I'd get my hands on it again! AWESOME!

PS that was before DMB got really mad about bootleggers and you could find them everywhere

I'm reading Step Into The Light right now (great book, btw) and it says that they had 30+ originals under their belt before they even got signed. And half of Crash was composed of songs they had been playing for 5 years or more before it was even released. I thought that was interesting.

I know. The man's a genius. '90-'92 was a very creative period for Dave. He could really crank out song after song. Granny, HMyself, Billies, Seek Up, Minarets, Cry Freedom, Ants, I'll Back you Up, STJLikes, Christmas Song, Typical Situation - I know I'm leaving out some tunes - so many great songs written in that short period.

i realize this is not news, but if what you said is true, most of the staple songs that we love (well, me i know for sure)were written long before they were recorded...aside from BTCS, commercial success really did kill the quality of his songwriting, IMO. i always thought that was such a cliche concept, but with BTCS as icing on the cake, it holds true. if only i was into the band when i was seven years old :(

I don't think in terms of ability, but more in terms of texture, like adding more effects, volume pedal, delay, etc. - more of that. To be honest, I was kind of expecting to hear a decrease in playing ability in Tim in this recording as it's older, but he played incredibly, just like later shows. He's just so good.

im gonna have to disagree...it sounds like he just kind of follows dave on this. sounds great, but there is certainly nothing as extravagant as the LALC billies or jimithing solos (to be fair, it was 1993). tim imo is always a little hit or miss, especially live, but his parts have definately grown much more complex

I'm not sure if you know or not but this is more than likely the 2nd time Tim Reynolds has played with Dave live. You can even hear Dave tell tim that he has never heard the song two step so he'll improvize. So your right, he does just follow Dave on some songs.

wow... this is a great great show. thank you so much. I love D&T together they are my favorite artists/band/duo/whatever bottom line.

honestly I like the raspy, smokey dave voice over the young one... One of the things I think that turned me off to DMB ages ago...

except for the high notes obviously, but I think now-a-days he should just rework his singing techniques so he doesn't try to do the impossible and get as high as he used to. (time of the season a PERFECT example).
