That's one of the many reasons Dave is a star, he acts insane at times and his mannerisms are very quirky, (I think it's calculated at times) and he gives you the impression he's high/fucked up, whatever.
Yea none of them have ever been fucked up on stage.

Why don't you roll your eyes at yourself, seriously. Do you really believe DMB gets high on drugs during their performances on a regular basis? If you do then you obviously have no idea what musicianship or professionalism are and I suspect you have no idea what it takes to perform music live.

You make it seem like they're this Christian rock group who never does drugs. For a long time Dave was messing up shows because of drugs and/or alcohol, this was after the BTCS days when they were having trouble together. At Bonaroo he cut the Dave and Friends encore short because he was too messed upfrom partying with Trey. I'm not saying they get bombed before every show but to think that it hasn't been an occasional thing in the past or present is ignorant.

It would take a toll on the band to be fucked up all the time, but i know there have been plenty of shows where there was some pre-show toking or boozing going on. i saw dave and friends in Oakland and he and trey came out for the encore to play 3 little birds. after messing up on a few lyrics and part of the rythm, dave looked into the camara with squinty eyes and a huge smile at the end as if to explain why he fucked up with out saying anything. the place went crazy. if you didn't get it, you are probably one of the people arguing they don't ever get fucked up. it happens and i don't think he trys to hide it.

in the dmb biography "step into the light".. it talks about some guy bringin a doob backstage at millers, or some other bar when they first started...it was during encore break and the band turned it down.
if i remember correctly a member on this board got to interview dave over the phone for a newspaper a while back? he said he asked dave about drugs and daves answer was "i've had my time"

If some stranger came up to me and offered me a joint, I'd turn it down too
Sometimes when I reflect on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. I think, "It is better to drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver.

Don't get me wrong, what I'm trying to stress is that on a regular basis, DMB is not using drugs on stage.

probably not now, I mean they have families and I'd imagine that as they tour more and more they view it as business, instead of just a nonstop party.

Am I the only one who remembers that Boyd said at the first concert promoting his solo record something to the effect of, "OK, all of you smoking pot need to put out your joints and pass them up front. To me?"

Yeh, that was me. When I asked him about it he kind of shied away from the question and just simply said, "Yeh, I think I've had my time." The way he said it was almost like saying "Yeh, I was real heavy into them earlier in life, but it's a rarity now." That's the way i took it anyhow

There's no doubt in my mind that Dave and/or the band have had they're experiences with drugs.
However, Dave is almost 40, has a wife, and two daughters...it just doesn't make sense to me that he would do drugs on a regular basis.

The contents of that book are highly suspect. It's mostly hearsay.

At Jazz Fest, he was straight-up-wasted, with his daughters 20 feet away.
