Not a chance. And I want to make one thing clear, I hate Everyday. Its just that when you think of it in the context of a pop album by any other band besides DMB its not all that bad. Thats the point of my thread.GSR wrote:Does anyone really think that stand up is going to "grow on us" as fans and we'll be saying "it's pretty good, i never had a problem with it, etc" like we think of Everyday now?
about/over half that album we never grow on meGSR wrote:Does anyone really think that stand up is going to "grow on us" as fans and we'll be saying "it's pretty good, i never had a problem with it, etc" like we think of Everyday now?

The songs will really grow if drastic live changes are made to them. Like an extended outro to stolen away with carter doing more of his cool syncopated shit. Or stand up having a longer outro with more leroi; I love him on that song. Or an extended outro to Smooth rider with butch playing some mean organ. Or hunger for the great light dying in a fire.
And for God's sake, the SU songs desperately need the flecktones. I could totally see bela giving dreamgirl an extra groove with his banjo, wooten adding some jazzy meat to EWU with some mean, sinister minister basslines, futureman and carter doing their thing during ABI.

Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

Or they could just create good songs from the get go instead of making those shitty songs even longer. I would kill myself if they tacked on extended outros to any of those songs, flecktones or no flecktones.Davy28 wrote:The songs will really grow if drastic live changes are made to them. I think people were saying the samething when BTCS came out. At the time I dont think it was liked for some of the same reasons that SU is hated. People were saying that BTCS was over produced and people say that SU is over produced. I do say that the producing on BTCS is better than SU. When BTCS came out that was a different and new sound for the band. Now people love it. If you listen to every new album that DMB puts out expecting to hear Jimi Thing part 2, Warehouse part 2, and Ants Marching part 2 you are going to be upset. Just listen to it as one piece of work that is not linked or connected to the other albums. It is not my favorite DMB album but Im not going to bash the band for trying new things. Im sure they were getting tired of the samething over and over again.
but you just said every album wasn't the same thing over and over again.STLflmmkr wrote:I think people were saying the samething when BTCS came out. and the fact is...SU is so different from everything else. I mean bands need to evolve, but the transistion from BS to SU is quite the stretch. Bartender to the breakdown in YMDT is just not the same band/sound at all
