You seem pretty knowledgeble w/ the whole Cville thing. Something we needed around here. You're like an inside guy.ShumurooGURU wrote:What I'm saying is that Dave came over with a general riff, and Ross helped him form a song from it.
If someone came over to your house and you offered to help him scan, photoshop, frame, and tag all his random photographs and he went on to make millions... would you be a bit interested in your share?

Before I got a girlfriend and sold out =), I was a musician here in Cville, and kinda hung out in the same circle of friends. I've met Dave personally a few times, I even went and saw fight club with him after smoking a bit. (Yes, its true, no I dont care if you dont believe me...) But Dave is still a human being, good musician or not... And there are rumors here, because everyone just knows good ol' Dave. (Or "David" as some of the girls like to call him)NJPearce22 wrote:You seem pretty knowledgeble w/ the whole Cville thing. Something we needed around here. He's been cool, he's also been pretty creepy. I never knew him before he got big, just after he became an icon.
If he helped write the song then i'd see that. But i've never once heard of him helping dave write at all, i've only heard of him complaining that dave used his chords. If I heard an outright, "I helped Dave write this song", then i'd see it more. But I do see what you're saying now and it makes sense, but the antithesis could also side with dave and all other musicians who are constantly bombarded by people from their past tryign to get money, I mean, how do you distinguish who you should give money to and who you shouldnt.ShumurooGURU wrote:What I'm saying is that Dave came over with a general riff, and Ross helped him form a song from it.

Agreed. I don't think helping Dave find new chord voicings warrants getting credit for the song. Isn't that what a guitar teacher is supposed to do?czech wrote:If he helped write the song then i'd see that.
