it's a good plan.c_tietze wrote:John Mayer is a blues guitarist who brilliantly wrote syrupy sweet pop tunes to establish himself in the world of Top 40 music which equates into him having the "bankability" to be able to go off and start a blues trio and play blues like God intended him to.
daves progress with the guitar...

He needs to be a lead guitarist for a band or maybe even a backup vocalist, but not the main singer/songwriter.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

I think that if dave really wanted to write a solo for a song i think he definitely could but i just feel like he doesn't have to worry about that because any of the other 4 members of the band can solo in a song. Dave is an amazing rhythm guitarist becuase he plays such unusual rhythms so fluently with his "butterfly" hand strumming. I would love to just hear him fiddle around on the guitar in the process of coming up with a song. I wish i could crawl around in his head for like a day and just try and understand how he comes up with the rhythms and progressions that he does.
