6 or 7 years ago i had just flown to newyork from england and couldnt sleep in the hotel room so i turned on the tv.....list supported was playing.....the "in the spotlight" thing where listener supported was on tv.
i came in at two step....and remember getting so excited by this amazing drummer that i wrote down tthe name of the band to buy the cds the next day and im so pleased i did......bieng from england no one myself included had any exposure to them so it was strange to learn that dave was a household name in the states...........any way thats how i first heard......they do something so different and exciting with there music . im glad that i bought those records.....(crash and recently first)

Gervais on Rosa Parks "she was arrested but then that law was changed- but she didnt stop there, she started sitting in the seats saved for disabled people. unbelavable, she talked to the driver when the bus was in motion- did she have the correct change ready? - did she bollox!"

the only shitty part which there really isnt any, was that i was so new to the whole thing i didnt really understand the shit the way i do now. there are no holes in that setlist, if i were to write out a dream set, it wouldnt alter much.HCHaikuWarrior wrote:now that is fuckin sick.wkpggrvn2001 wrote:that is a setlistNitro1515 wrote:Summer of 95, I was 11 and bought UTTAD. Right after BOWA ended I was hooked and I've been hooked for the past 10 years. Another fond memory was when I was 12 and I went to my first concert at SPAC. It was incredible, I might have been the youngest kid there. I remember it was raining and I had lawn seats and they put on such a kickass show:

Looks like an '01 show? Cool setlist though. Hey check, have you ever been told that you don't look like someone who listens to dmb? I fuckin hate that. Tatoos, piercings and whatnot...my friends assume I'm a huge punk or emo fan. Just a random thought.checkii wrote:First time I heard DMB was in 94 when WWYS got released. It was like a guitly pleasure of mine, but I didnt listen to them too much, just owned UTTAD but enver listenerd to it. think i got it for free from someone.
Then I remember hearing Crash and it was kind of boring to me, thought the song sounded beautiful, but boring. Still wasnt a big fan.
Then in 99 or whenever storytellers aired I was in my room and flipping through channels and I remember hearing him play crush and I nearly shit. I was sold instantly, Went the next day and bought L@LC and Crash.
listened to them over and over, became a huge fan of ants and two step right away. Never looked back.

sortof a dmb memory but its when i started playing guitar, it was about 3 or 4 years ago i guess. i had just stopped playing sax and was starting guitar. i went to a guitar store and asked.
"is there anyone here who gives guitar lessons?"
guy "yeah i do, what kind of stuff do you want to learn how to play?"
me-an 11 year old kid who has known of dave for years but just clicked with him in the past week says "
"dave matthews"
he just looked at me for a second and said, ok, i charge 50 every 5 weeks, lets start next week.
3 weeks later he taught me typical situations.
i just kinda like that story i guess.

I tend to not tell anyone im into DMB, funny enough, people make more judgements of me when htey find out I like dmb more than how i look.whip3512 wrote:Looks like an '01 show? Cool setlist though. but yes, I do often get, "Wow, you like DMB?" But i think its funny, a lot of girls way to hot for me have fucked me... ..why? because they said I looked mean but when I was nice to them they thought it was so sweet. what they dont know is that i am a nice fucking guy, they just thought there were special.
and to be dead honest, I would never want to look like the typical DMB fan
