Its true, there is an article in rolling stone about how Dave played some piano in the studio and this just confirms it

Here is the article:
Dave Matthews Band

The road-tested jam-band kings will shake things up on their June-September tour with material from their new album, due in May. "It's different in a fun kind of way," says violinist Boyd Tinsley. "I play electric mandolin on some songs. Dave plays some piano."
Says Boyd Tinsley of Dave Matthews Band, which is planning an extensive 2005 outing, "when we think about summer, we think about touring."

Man, I am pumped for this album. I held off comment forever, but I'm anxious...in a good way. I appreciate when bands try new and different things, sometimes something really good happens (i.e., Radiohead's Kid A, Amnesiac efforts). However, sometimes bands try new things and a bunch of poop comes out (pick your album). Hopefully, this is not one of those. The idea that this studio process has been so hands-on for everybody and there's no bullshit in the studio makes me more hopeful that this won't be an Everyday type thing.

Probably but this happened during the Busted Stuff sessions as well, Stefan played the piano on the CD and Butch played it all live.

Ok they just got another update, this is exactly what was posted:
Tracklist is NOT final yet.

Song: hunger for the great light
hello again
joyride
Made the cut of songs but not for sure on the album

Talk about a double sided studio disk with very special bonus on the other side. (details not final)

no bombs dropping on american baby
Song dream girl
stand up is funky

Said, all hype aside, it was an amazing experience.

The name of the album is Stand Up
American Baby is the first song and single on the album, it will be put on the radio this Friday.
There is a long sax jam at the end of American Baby.
The next song is called Steady as You Go and it features Dave playing the piano, Stefan on the guitar and Boyd playing the electric mandolin.
And the last thing he sent is that the album is amazing.
Thats all for now, ants will have a full track listing very late tonight or early morning
uh.....wtf?
  :D :) i cant wait!
