"Forget about what you are escaping from," he said, quoting an old maxim of Kornblum's. "Reserve your anxiety for what you are escaping to."

i hated DMB with all that i am. i used to skate and well, DMB and skating didn't mix well. I used to listen to only punk music. i bought a skating video. as i was watching one segment they had this amazingly deep and ominous song playing with like full orchestra and the oboes came in and i was like "holy jeez this song is awesome". I had memorized the lyrics from watching that segment so much and can still recall the entire skating sequence. i went another few months before i found out it was "the Stone". and i went out and bought BTCS and have been hooked ever since. The Stone is still my favorite song. It is just an amazing song. it is funny cuz i seriously hated DMB. i would make fun of people and thought i was so badass. what a change.....
LIOG was what convinced me to go out and buy the other albums. and really DMB has broadened my scope to enjoying basically every type of music. from Rap to Bluegrass. and i credit that change to Dave.

I bawl my eyes out everytime I hear Cry Freedom/L@LC and Say Goodbye/Crash, but the song that holds a special place in my heart the most is Warehouse/L@LC.
The passion intro, with Dave eerily crying out in the background, brings to mind a nightmare you are stuck in and cannot extract yourself from. Even though Warehouse is the longest song on L@LC, the song never lags because it is already at full throttle by the first verse. The chorus is like tiptoeing through a graveyard, with Tim's creepy high fret licks lurking behind Dave's strumming like ghosts. And the final chord ends the song on a hopeful, emotional note, as if the listener was finally emerging from an odyssey through the underworld.

I LIKE IT!!!

I can't believe that we would lie in our graves wondering if we had spent our living days well, and I can't believe that we would lie in our graves dreaming of things that we might have been...
Best of What's Around. I didn't know DMB and converted my friends 6/7/98 tape to CD back in 1998...when CD Burners were like $500. I did it analog!!! Popped in tape and BAM, Best of What's Around came on. From that night on I was fucking hookedJay wrote:when i heard WWYS i thought "that's kinda cool" ...then i heard ants and bought the album.....when i got to warehouse and nancies...i was hooked. back then i hada paper route, and i used to listen to UTTAD every day.....

I've been a fan of DMB's music since I got the cassette of UTAD. Yeah, that's right, the cassette. I still have it in my closet somewhere I think. But, I was never that interested in playing his music. I thought Dave and his band made great music but never thought of him as anything exceptional as a musician. Then one night at like 12:30am I was flipping b/w channels and I saw Dave pop up on PBS. I thought WTF. He was on the Charlie Rose show. When he soloed the Stone at the end I was amazed. Truly impressed at his talent and inspired. I'll post the link to the clip for any of the poor souls who may not have heard/seen this. http://www.dmbml.com/downloads/videos.html
