I am an older guy and was fortunate enough to see the band many times pre-super fame in 93-94-95 and nothing compares to the sound from then. Everything was more exciting and dave especially took many more risks. Tim goes away for a while and we end up with Everyday ->Stand Up! I agree with what this guys said.

I disagree. I think that could be a great path for them to evolve down. It might be really neat, and at very least something fresh and new for them. And anything is better than Bayou and ODH and the like.

I guess it depends on what type of psychedelic sound you're talkin about. At their base though DMB is a jazz band. Carters drumming would be wasted in such a change, and Leroi wouldn't know what to do. I think the most promising hope for this would be if artists started guesting on albums again. If trey were to add his touch to some new songs I think that would work quite nicely, but moving a jazz band into psychedelic music just doesn't seem like it would work towards a positive end.

I wasn't suggesting that they become a psychedelic band, by any means. But a bit of a psychedelic influenced sound incorporated into their style would be welcomed by me. I always liked the spacey effects Tim throws in when it's him and Dave, and I think that sort of thing thrown into the mix full band could be cool.

But, I think we're fooling ourselves if we think their sound is going to get anything other than more poppy/mainstream. That's the direction they've been headed for almost a decade now already.

Ah, well that I can agree on. I really like when boyd uses the wah pedal for his solos, like on watchtower. I hope they don't get too poppy. I think for whatever reason after BTCS they got onto that road, but with songs like the new stuff they've been puttin out, i think theyre drawin back. I mean Eh Hee, and Cornbread, along with kill the king and shotgun. Stuff like that isnt really too poppy, its moving towards a darker side that we havent seen in awhile. Im optimistic.
