agreed - wooten does that alot, thats gotta be pretty difficult, i don't care how good you are, think of the coordination you know?
its not the coodination that impresses me, its the knowing what note is what pitch. thats awesome to be like "i can play this note and hum its pitch at the same time." you really gotta know your instrument (and be able to sing) for that
but also, i really like the little speed up scat thing they do on the Everyday on the 2cd/dvd red rocks thing

same here, #41 is too good to be tainted with that piece of crap song and i miss the little dave guitar outro they used to play like on Listener Supported.

dave needs to go spend about 6 months in south africa. he needs to clear his head (of life in the US). get high and run around on the beach, sit in the middle of no where and have fun.
then he needs to start writing music again. he's jaded and infected with united states-itis.

Dave: I busted a string...

Yeah. Thinking about it, I remember having the feeling that Dave wasn't overly happy about SU when I watched the SU companion video that was released with the dual-disc album. I remember him saying something like "We're making a fucking pop album" with this really sarcastic tone and weird look on his face.

hosting the oscars is like winning the heisman trophy. no matter how you do in the ballgame, or whatever, they can't take it away from you. and even if you kill your wife and an ex-waiter, they still have a hard time taking it away from you

I don't remember that because I haven't watched that DVD since May, but I think its safe to say that Dave was just putting on a happy face for the whole thing since he was being shoved into the background by the rest of the band. Dave doesn't even have a guitar part during some of these songs and its clear that the majority of those songs are not built around anything he came up with. I think the band was just fed up with Dave getting all the attention for his songwriting and they felt it was their turn to write some tunes. End result: a failure of an album. Solution: Let Dave write their songs again.

no, because that has too much of a positive conotation in everyday conversation.
