Plus I think Tim changes DMB's definition, they are known and loved as an "ACOUSTIC Rock/Jazz band", Tim smashes their style and you can hear less and less of Dave's guitar because he envys Tim and he want's to hear him play...

Butch was a great addition to DMB, he gave them that Jazz sound, listen to his solos on "Two Step" (My favourites are The Central Park Concert and the Weekend on the Rocks '05 solos) and you'll see what I mean

Rashawn? I think he's great, especially on ASTB, and if you don't like him I suggest you listen to "The Best of What's Around, Vol. 1" version of Warehouse, I think you'll change your mind after that
They're a rock band at their core, with jazz influences, Tim plays into that very well. As for the betrayal thing, if you didnt think Tim's performance was jaw dropping on the whole, you're crazy.

I love D&T but sometimes he's just to much to hear, the bottom line is, Tim has to remain ONLY with Dave and leave the band ASAP, if he stays for good, DMB might become a psychedelic rock band, which means that the "unplugged" sound they have - DEAD

Everyone has their own opinion, and I think you might be in the minority actually. I thought he was amazing and MADE the show I went to this summer.

did he ever play an acoustic guitar WITH the band? I'd like to hear that

btw, is the new album already recorded, or are they still recording, cause that would mean that butch won't be heard on the new album

Ive listened to every show from this tour so far, theres not a hint of psychedelic in their sound, they sound like a rock band, and more importantly they sound like they're having fun. Imo they sound the best they have since 2003.

I honestly wouldn't mind a bit if the band decided to incorporated a psychedelic sound to their stuff.

you guys do realize that tim was there for a majority of their early shows when they were gaining fans exponentially right? In my opinion, Tim is a staple for their original sound and a big reason they were pinned as a "jam" band. Also, Tim is almost exclusively playing the guitar on the first 3 albums.... The guy who said he doesn't fit in with the band, huh? He is Responsible for more of the bands sound than you would think. I am an older guy and was fortunate enough to see the band many times pre-super fame in 93-94-95 and nothing compares to the sound from then. Everything was more exciting and dave especially took many more risks. Tim goes away for a while and we end up with Everyday ->Stand Up! Disclaimer: complete opinion (no research was done, going from memory which aint so good anymore!)
