I agree. He probably thought people would misinterpret the song and it would make them seem like a bunch of asses.

Difficulty of chords = quality of song, all of a sudden?
Not necessarily. But in this case it contributes.

lol, okay. So you're telling me if I decided to play the song with inversions instead of the standard barre chord it would be better?

Might as well end this thread with the song. Here's Spotlight:

No, not really. Well, it depends on the scale you're talking about. If you played inversions instead, it would sort of be like brittany spears shaving a zigzag into her shaved head. Makes it a little cooler, but the fact remains, she's a washed up hick tramp without any hair.

The song is doomed from the beginning. Christ, the progression sucks, the lyrics suck. How many times do you want me to repeat that? Or did you not read the rest of the thread? The fact that it is a simple progression with simple barre chords is a *contributing* factor to the overall suck.

I think a lot of simple songs are great. Melody and lyrics go a long way. Spotlight just happens not to have either.

Well, that's your opinion. I happen to love the song. As a matter of fact, I'd go so far as to say it's one of my favorites.

"Unless you're in the spotlight for a reason. . ."

Someone riddle me that line please. You've got a peachy life if people are looking at you, unless they're looking at you for a reason, then, fuck that peachy shit. Uh huh.

Then all of a sudden we're sleeping in boxes but retiring with a million

BUCKS! YEAH!

You're in the spotlight (think...old school police, or a police helicopter, tracking down a theif....they use a spotlight) because you were caught for stealing somebody's riches.

The version with the female voice guest, is great!

I like the song, simple but nice. And really enjoyable.
