I just watched an hour-long thing on Direct TV channel 101 (I dunno if anybody knows what I'm talking about) of the Dave Matthews Band live ... and wow ... it sucked. Besides having shitty and cut versions of all of the songs, because of being recorded for television, they were only playing to about 1/4 of the crowd they usually do. And the info caption read something like "If you've never seen Dave Matthews Band live in concert, this is your chance ..." At the end of warehouse in the segment, you can hear boyd saying an IEM recording, "Man, that was fun," like the song hadn't been played a million times over. It all just sounded so fake and forced.
I kept thinking, "This is not even close to the energy or the feelings their songs have live." Wow, what a waste of an hour.
The only part I enjoyed was a davespeak where he talks about he and Carter playing there once before and they played duringa set break between Bues Traveler. And he talks about two guys in the fron row just screaming the entire time "You guys fucking suck! Get off the stage!"

Yeh taparoo has it right ... but it was very similar to storytellers in how they played the songs. Normally I enjoy Louisianna Bayou live, (I know, not a favorite song of many of you) but that was just awful. Two step was the only one that I thought was decent, even though it was just a fraction as good as the way they normally do it.taparoo wrote:no, it's from their Stand Up release show in '05. I saw it a while back too and I totally agree, it sucked big time. Even on the good tunes they did play like Two Step the sound was horrible.bassman462 wrote:are you sure it wasn't storytellers?

Let me preface this post by saying I do not believe these clips are actually DMB, but whoever put them together or recorded these sound pretty damn good. These are three 20 second clips that someone claims is DMB studio material, personally I think it is a tribute band, but regardless I like the way they sound

yeah, i agree. I didn't think that sounded like Roi at all. I liked it, though.bassman462 wrote:ya i don't think it's dmb, doesn't seem like leroi's style of sax. in the first one.
