A friend from work doesnt like them because of his voice and because hes a big Phish fan. Apparently you can be a DMB fan first and like Phish, but not a Phish fan first and like DMB. He also thinks Trey started sucking when he was hanging around with Dave more.

my sister says his music is depressing. DMB is an aquired taste, for those who got into it it quickly became an obession. Others like their radio stuff but have no idea what the band is about, other just dont like him. I've gotten dave's voice usually as a reason.

People don't like Dave Matthews because he's popular now. Hippies, like Khan, now have to like some new underground jam band that no one has heard of. They then worship them like Gods until they get big and move on to another band.

Ya! Kind of like Widespread Panic, right? They are super underground I love seeing them in tiny 20,000 people arenas!

you're missing the point you pompous, self important cum stain. I know of people who used to be big on Phish then the little shows they used to play got bigger then they stopped liking them cause they thought they were selling out, getting too big for their own good, becoming "pop". So then they moved to a little known band like Widespread or Umphrey's or any of the thousands of jam bands that are out there that they think are still underground. Then the cycle repeats until they see things that they don't like. Shit. I remember seeing Dave for the first time in 94 and basically no one even really knew of the band or paid them any attention. since they were opening for Rusted Root and Blues Traveller. Now they are selling out Giants Stadium and filling out Central Park.
