Dave does not write on the road? I did a little digging and and need to revise his article:
"A number of fans expressed relief that Dave would go back to writing songs on the road. What most didn’t realize was that Dave doesn’t write on the road (16), with the exception of the song Where are You Going (42)."
Footnotes:
(42) Martin Guitar advertisement appearing on the back cover of Acoustic Gutiar Magazine, February 2005:
[advertisement shows a photo of a Martin guitar leaning against a chair that is in front of an open window overlooking what appears to be Central Park in New York City. The advertisement reads:]
If along the way you are growing weary,
you can rest with me until a brighter day.
It's okay, where are you going,
where do you go?
- written on a HD-28V alone in a hotel at the end of a 48 date tour, 2001
[end of advertisement]
I'm being a little facetious here (even though this is a real reference), but my point is that he has made an artical that comes across as factual by his extensive use of references. If he is going to do this then his research needs to be more thorough, and his writing adjusted accordingly.
Footnote to my footnote: Upon researching the Tour Central section of AM, there appears to be more than 48 dates in the 2001 tour, so maybe he did consider my reference but threw it out as being non-factual
