Your Gateway Album
I got into DMB back in 95, after UTTAD came out. I heard a clip of WWYS on a commercial for a local radio station and that was enough to hook me. Usually I like to hear several songs from an album of an artist that I don't already know, but from just a few seconds of that song I knew that they were something special. At the time, I was mostly into ska and punk and weird stuff like They Might Be Giants, so it was it bit out there for me. I am still kicking myself to this day for missing their concert in Minneapolis in 95. I was in high school and I didn't drive yet, so I would have needed a ride from my parents. They were playing the Quest club, which only holds a 1,000 people or so. Now they only play the extremely crappy Target Center. Ugh!

I found out about DMB when my bro got a couple of mp3s from a buddy with some live DMB songs. There was a D+T Crash which I LOVED, Rhyme&Reason, Don't Drink The Water and Ants Marching. Loved it all, and got some more live mp3s. This was in 2001 I think, and my brother bought Everyday which I didn't like at all. And I remember looking at the pics inside the album and saying to my brother that Dave looked really uncharismatic. Haha, how wrong can you be.
So, after listening to Everyday I didn't really get more stuff by them but kept listening to the live mp3s I had. After a while I decided to give it another go and got BTCS, and I was instantly hooked. I think I seriously listened to BTCS at least once a day for over a year. For two years DMB was basically all I listened to, but then I inevitably got fed up, and had a long break before I got back into it again. Now I have a more healthy relationship to it, and they're definetely my favourite band.
