I didn't know that 'anyone seen the bridge' is on central park. I haven't received my cd from warehouse yet, but it's not on the dvd. What's up with that???

Scat actually originated from jazz, and the name basically says it all. It's just sort of weird noises the singers used to make. Listen to someone like Ella Fitzgerald if you want to know where the sound originally came from. What Dave is doing is far more gibberish especially on Anyone seen the bridge, then it is skat. Although what he does on Jimi Thing is more closely related to skat.
I do agree about the whole mood thing though, because skat is a lot of raw emotion. I've heard people who do it, who really suck, and then I've heard others who have never done it before and they're pretty good.

yeah. wasn't there a story about louis armstrong creating scat? he forgot his music or something and was asked to sing and he just started doing it along to the general idea. don't know. rumors rumors.

Yeah, Jimi Thing kicks ass on scatting. It's the most awsome song I think dave has ever done live. Nothing I've heard compares to it.
