Good morning,
Does anyone know of a good guitar teacher in the Atlanta area? If not, what is the best way to find one?
Thanks in advance

Sean,
I've lived in Atlanta for about 3 years now. I considered taking lessons at several points but, since I was living on GA Tech campus for awhile, found that I learned more just by playing with everyone I met. However I do have a couple possibilities in mind. Mars Music used to offer lessons and a friend of mine took them but soon quit because the lessons were too short and slow to progress. I have heard good things about lessons being taught out of the smaller "mom & pop" music stores and I would highly recommend Maple Street Guitars just around the corner from Lenox Mall. They have a wide variety of teachers to chose from based on your interests. I also know that GSU teaches several classes in various guitar techniques that friends have recommended to me. If you have any questions feel free to post and I'll see what I can come up with.

Yeah I lucked out just don't be shy. When I first moved into the dorms my freshmen year people just wandered in if they saw my guitar or heard me pathetically trying to play. I actually met a lot of talented people - a vocalist who did a lot of recording, two literal masters in classical style, and several other people with years upon years of experience. It was by pure chance that I met them and I attribute much of my abilities to them though some day I think I'd like to become more disciplined and take lessons.
