In 2002, we got flooded out of our tents night 2 and four or five of us ended up crammed into my girlfriends Shadow. I think 2003 was nice. Weather just tends to factor into things at DMB Alpine shows; you can almost depend on it.
I saved that guys life. Serious. I wouldn't make it up.
He was bleeding from his eyes and ears. I gave him CPR while we waited for the paramedics.

One of the most traumatic moments of my life.

I got seriously messed at the show later on. I spilled every beer I bought on someone. :D
Holy shit. I remember waitnig in line for hours because of that, sitting on the roof of my friends car and playing guitar while we rolled in. Thats a crazy story for you to be able to tell.

I think Alpine or any other outdoor venue is special if it's the one that you regularly attend or have ritual connected with it.

For instance, the Pavillion here in Pennsylvania is like an hour drive for me and my friends and every summer we make the trip. We laugh and tailgate and i'll play some guitar until it starts to get darker, then we head in to chill on the lawn. Then as the sun goes down Dave comes out and the rest is just pure magic.

I mean seriously. You don't see the stars very much around pittsburgh and to go out into Burgettstown PA and have DMB playing and your with your best friends under the stars is truly something else.

I'd take a trip to Post-Gazette Pavillion with my friends like we do every summer over any trip to the Gorge and Red Rocks.

In all sincerity. This might have been a corny post but i don't know venues can have certain values attached to them that make them better then any famous one in my opinion.

ya, but i bet if you go with your friends to alpine. you will change your thought on your "home" venue. there is something about Alpine that makes it the best, in my opinion and many others as well. partying afterwards is awesome. you got the drunk college dudes lighting bottlerockets into the crowd. guitar players playing on their rooftops. tents, bonfires, grilling, beer. holy shit, i could go on and now! and then do it all over the next day. Alpine = BEST DMB EXPERIENCE no matter what happens :D

Alpine is rediculous. Dave has gone on record saying that it is his favorite.

Alpine

I've only been to four Dave shows, so I'm no expert, but the Saturday show in 2004 at Alpine was the best concert I've ever attended in my life. The energy was just amazing. Bartender was insane, the encore of Typical Situation followed by Warehouse was the perfect end to an amazing night. Also seeing Dave pay tribute to Rick James (who had died the previous night) with Superfreak was good comedy.
