They are going to remain current and popular. It sucks to us older fans because while we want the band to succeed we don't want to see these new annoying fans at the shows. They gobble up the better seats and scream for "satellite" when there's a break in between songs. It's the price we pay for the band getting popular.
Amen brother. I can't listen to a live recording and not cringe at the screaming when that 4th note of crash rings out. i just put my head down and feel embarrassed
every show since probably 99 that I've been to when I hear the opening to "crash" or "satellite" or any other "chick song" that's when I make my beer run. The reason why I still go to shows is for the following...
1. to hopefully hear that setlist/song that just makes your hair raise on your arms
2. to see the sheer enormity of the growing popularity of the band. It's pretty cool to me to drive through the parking lot or sit in my seat and just look out over the swarms of people that are there just to watch this band.
3. getting to talk to all kinds of random people, normally in a chemically altered state, about something that everyone there has in common. It's cool to hear their views on "Stand Up" or anything else that might come up in conversation.
4. Seeing passed out 22 year old chicks that have half their shit hanging out and then kicking them over so they don't asphixiate on their own vomit

I agree with just about eberything you said Hof. Especially number 3.

In my college days, I would get to a show at 1pm or earlier and had the whole day to wander around and meet people. It was my favorite part of going to shows..... then to cap it off you had a great night of music.

Nowadays, It's kind of hard to do that cause I can't relate to the college crowd anymore, so I get to shows at 5 or so, get a buzz, and enjoy the music.

Anybody got the numbers of the songs in which they were written? That awesome website, the song number project, doesn't exist anymore last time i checked. I wanna make a playlist of the best live versions of each song in order.

Yes. I am delusional, and you can spell. There! That one is settled.
czech wrote:I'm sure as a collective group we could name atleast 10 bands currently more talented without a doubt.
Now, I've read all of the responses between your post and the end of the thread. Nowhere did I see anyone volunteering to act as a "collective group" to create this list. Still no doubts?
czech wrote:2: what does it matter what people like?
You tell me. You're the one who has a problem with not wanting the people who like that "other music" showing up at a DMB concert.

So - what does it matter what people like?
czech wrote:and media cant tell yuo what you like, all it can do is increase opportunity to hear it.
Finally! You understood at least one of my points!
czech wrote:I like bands that are musically talented, btu I also like bands like Fall Out Boy, because i dont think talent is the only aspect. Maybe I want to relate to my music and 12 yr old girls just cant relate to DMB, but they can relate to a bunch of pre-pubecent boys singing about the crap these girls want to hear.
Aside from this being almost completely incoherent, I'm going to do my best to reply to this anyway.

One of the other points that I was attempting to make is that most of those "12 yr old girls" don't even know if what those "prepubescent" boys are singing is what they "want to hear". The reason for that is, they haven't been exposed to anything else except for what is on the radio/televisions/Internet.

Most people are drones. Most people don't think for themselves. Most people are indiscreetly influenced by what goes on around them. The music industry thrives off of this.
czech wrote:3: I wasn't talking about the people's music, just the type of people in general
I must have missed that.
czech wrote:4: Please don't try and profit.
Touché! You've left me clueless on this one.

On an aside, Czech, I didn't come here looking for an argument and I'm still not sure if your abrasive demeanor is intended to seem that way, or if I'm simply reading your responses in the wrong "tone". If the latter is the case, then I apologize for the sarcasm in my reply. If the former happens to be the case, then it's only fair to let you know now that I definitely didn't come here to take anyone's shit.

Have a nice day.

i like making an in-promtu set list just from the live songs i have on my computer. as each song winds down, you go through and take like 30 seconds to find the next song. its fun. the only problem is that DDTW from CP has that long intro so i cant really use it other than at the beginning
