 mildly. I don't even know what that word means and its funny. Anyway, I don't know what to say - what can be expected of this band nowadays. Someone once used the analogy of a baseball player - in that he has his great games when he hits 4 for 4 with 2 homeruns, and he has his bad days when he goes 0 for 4 with 2 strikeouts, and there's all those in between games where he hits 2 for 4 with a couple of singles. A band simply can't be at their best for every god damn show they do. They care about their fans, but as hard as it is to believe sometimes, they're only human. I believe that they're doing there best and I hate all this negative shit about how terrible these shows have been and how bad this song is and that crap. Say something fuckin' positive for a change - a shred of something. This is not just directed at you Elliot, for you're not the only one that's been let down by this tour so far. and I see your point that you pay $50 and go through the traffic hassle shit to get to and from the show, to see a possibly less than mediocre show. It's a chance that everyone must take for every show. How much were Bob Dylan tickets last year? or Stones tickets? the shows probably weren't that good. As a matter of fact my sister went to a Bob Dylan show and she said it was very short, that Dylan didn't say a word the whole show, he just ran on - did the set - and ran off and that was it. ok, I'm ranting but I just wanna say what I feel - and that, although some would argue, that a true fan would not be so disappointed about a performance of their favorite band. This review of a concert says it all:
http://www.antsmarching.org/forum/showt ... adid=41234
typically I do have good things to say...6/3/01 was a downright mediocre show, but I still had plenty of good things to say and it had it's moments. These shows are just uncanny though. They're like no other show I've been to by this band and others are saying the same thing...it's as if the band could care less about what they're doing. It's one thing to play the same set basically every night, but when you do so with little energy or earnesty, it just all turns into a joke. A joke...a fairly good way to describe these shows...I'm typically into the shows. I had a great time at my summer shows, but these are just whack...maybe you disagree but honestly, you weren't there so it's really tough to argue your side. I don't know what else to say...the shows really weren't good and considering I dumped $120 plus $30 for Warehouse Fan Club to get the tix, I think I have plenty a right to expect more from them. DMB really has been going downhill since 2000 and it looked like the 2002 summer tour marked a turnaround but this tour puts all that into question more than ever...the fanbase, nomatter how forgiving it may be will not put up with this if they were to continue similar habits on the road next year...and slowly but surely they will slip away. I think everyone needs to accept that. Just because they're DMB doesn't excuse them from the invitable...

I just looked at that thread...my biggest problem...it sure as hell didn't seem like they loved what they were doing. usually when someone loves something they're passionate about it...I LIVE ON THE CORNER OF GREY STREET!!!!!!!!!! as opposed to, "yeah, I live on this corner on grey street, yup, it's at the end of the world...could you pass the stuffing?" Never have I seen so many songs just lack a real punch...check out this thread...

 you sure now how to start shit though. 5 pages for that thread! wow, I'm going back to it now to read some more of it. I may be up for awhile :D honestly though, I know exactly what you mean. you can see that lack of caring in Dave on the Angel jam from Folsolm Field. I could tell he wanted to end that tune but it kept going and going like the fucking Energizer bunny. I was just calling your bluff or whatever the hell, to get more outa ya besided "it blew donkey chunks" or something to that effect. Even on Listener supported you can tell that he's playing them just to play them and not actually "performing" them. there's a big difference between playing them and performing well. I take it they Dave didn't perform as well as you would've liked for the two shows. Anyway, I'm still looking forward to more dmb shit in the future. Frankly I don't know what's gonna happen to them when this RCA contract is up. Maybe they'll break up :o :o :o :o :o    :? 8)     8) :( :) :?
good, and you?

after reading that thread, i really think some people should be ashamed of themselves. lack of energy on saturday night??????? lack of diversity, i can see that. but if you can't feel the energy from the band, nor the crowd in such an intimate setting, maybe its' time you move on and find a different band. i for one, am staying.

I've been to enough shows to know that those two were extremely weak...

maybe part of the blame should go to the crowd, for the show being "extemely weak". I really think its sickening how people get so angry because their 150th time seeing the band sucked.

maybe their spirits aren't there(or so you say, i felt a hell of a lot of spirit) because some whiny fans are never happy.
