So many of my relatives have died from complications related directly or indirectly to smoking. I have one who has like a 20% lung capacity due to all of the tar buildup from fifty years of smoking. She's due for an O2 tank. Smoking literally AGES people.DMB_DO wrote:For all of you out there that smoke cigarettes, please try to quit. Use the patch, use the gum, go to your doctor and get a prescription for medication to help you quit. I have seen first hand what smoking can do to a person, and trust me when I say you don't want to go down that road. Quit now while you can still save your lungs and your life. The best to all of you.Davy28 wrote:Even so I hope Dave quits. Please God.

His Dad died from Hodgkins disease which is a form of cancer. It's the same thing Mario Lemieux has or had.
Dave definitly smokes. If you ever watched the special from last year when he and Trey goes to Africa there is a part where Dave asks one of the roadies if they sell cigarettes in the store nearby.

Thats in a few of the books I have. Yep he was a physicist.DMB_DO wrote:Hey Brock, I found this over at dave matthews band.net
Dave had been moving around his entire life as he had lived in three countries since he was born, which helped him develop an interesting and original appriciation of music and also a rather original accent. A couple years after he was born, his family moved from Africa to Yorktown Heights, a suburb of New York. There, his father John Matthews, worked as a physicist for IBM until Dave was seven years of age, at which time the family moved to Cambridge, England.

Mario did have Hodgkin's, but his cancer was of the lymph nodes in his neck. The article that I read said that Dave's dad had lung cancer, so it isn't exactly the same thing Mario had. I think it's safe to say "had" at this point, over 10 years later.Mjazk26 wrote:His Dad died from Hodgkins disease which is a form of cancer. It's the same thing Mario Lemieux has or had.

Yea it was a while ago but it kept coming back for Mario. I have not heard anything in a while but I moved away from Pittsburgh three years ago. I thought Dave's dad had it in his spine or something. I just watched Dave's VH1 driven but I already forgot.
