A thought on WWYS live

Unread post by TwoMuch » Wed Jun 08, 2005 10:28 am

Here's an idea. Ever seen the SNL performance of WWYS? Instead of Boyd doing that scale thingy as they come out of Leroi's jam, he rips out more soloing, which I think is cool. I think he should go back to doing that, and Butch can easily find a good keyboard sound and play that part himself. Kinda like how on the album, Boyd plays the scale while John Popper wails on the harmonica.

I like that idea, WWYS is a great song. AND, boyd kicks ass. As for you
GSRLessard14, i think all the new material is sounding great live. Listen to some of the more recent shows, the band is having a great time!

The new stuff is great live (minus Out of My Hands and Steady As We Go)! Hunger surprised me a lot...and now it's one of my favorites on Stand Up.

I don't really like that song live, imo
it's ok untill they get to do harmonica part in the studio version, since they don't usually have that instrument, from there on I don't like the way it's played

I thought it killed a good energy...I'm not saying it's a bad song (in fact I do love it), but I am saying I'd rather hear I Did It live.

You must be talking about Columbus. I heard it in Burgettstown in the first encore slot. It was a prime "lighter in the air song" for everyone, and got the crowd really excited.

Nope...I was at both Burgettstown shows and was very dissappointed to hear it as an encore after an energetic Watchtower. I was ready for something crazy like Ants or Grey Street (which were awesome on night two!). Maybe I just didn't like how it fit in the set and that turned the song off for me.

Your right about that night 2 Grey Street, that was a fuckin rockin jam at the end. Yes Watchtower was energetic, but the encore break killed more of the energy than Steady As We Go. If you looked around in the field, you could see alot of lighters and swaying, so most of the people were feeling it. I thought it fit the concert nicely, but these are opinions haha so yeah.
