dmb fans like (most of) us
ok, this was kind of a thought that i got while readin over in the dave guitar discussion about daves guitar playing, its changes and whatnot. also readin the many threads on the new album.
so here it is, im hopin it comes out clearly
i gotta say that i think its great (and the band should think so too) that faithful fans like a lot of the people here are saying "i dont like this album because of...[reason]" and that some are saying they do like it. there are so many bands out there and a lot of them have huge followings who would, i hate to say it, like anything their band played. not to say phish ever played bad stuff, but they could play anything they wanted and no one would say "i dont like it."
so thats what im tryin to say is that its great that DMB has influenced people to the point where they are huge fans (makin friends on a band message board even) yet still have their own opinions and arent brainwashed.
so hats off to people who hate this new album(me) and hats off to people who love it (kanter). here's to fans who think for themselves!

Agreed. This is the only board were you can have actual discussions about the album and can criticize the album without somebody saying that you aren't a fan anymore. When I post on ants about why I don't like the album I always get witty remarks like "oh well than can I have your tickets for SPAC because its clear you aren't a fan anymore." I hate when people say that, just because they made a CD I'm not crazy about doesn't mean they aren't still my favorite band.i am sam2 wrote:ok, this was kind of a thought that i got while readin over in the dave guitar discussion about daves guitar playing, its changes and whatnot. also readin the many threads on the new album.

There's a difference between being an obsessed fan and someone who respects a bands music. Sadly, it seems that most people don't just respect music and are overly obsessive with a band nowadays.

One of the things that's great about this site in particular, is that other musicians post here. It makes a difference when criticizing music to understand it at least a little bit. The criticizms the fans on this site give are ones that I think are usually well-informed and not just statements of opinion. Of course there are exceptions, but yaayy for this dmbtabbers.

Having musicians around definantley makes for a less biased atmosphere, in terms of music. I love you guys.

This is defintely the most opinionated fourm I have ever seen. And I am not insulting anyone, or trying to be sarcastic. After last night, people bashing on me cuz I was having a bad day, I've come to realize that maybe I should quit being a jackass heh... anyways my point is.. I love Stand Up, but I hated Everyday. I love Busted Stuff, and love most of the albums. I am obsessed with DMB, but I still try to keep an open mind.
Kudos and an apology to Kahn =P
Edit: And Yes, My AV is gone.. -.-;
