Look at his question. He is trying to get a glimpse of DMB fans personal beliefs. Oh well, IM sure Brock will make that descion.

And he is not profiling people. That would be something completely different, such as somebody assuming you are a liberal becasue you like DMB. In this case he is doing the opposite. He is asking, rather than labeling.

Ok... well since a question can be so demeaning to people and so personal that you can't stand the thought that it is in, what you consider, the wrong forum, maybe I will tell you a little of why I asked this question.

First of all thank you to the people that DIDN'T get offended and that were explaining to those that DID get offended that it is just a question. You have options. YOU DON'T HAVE TO READ THIS THREAD OR ANSWER. Nothing I wrote should have offended anyone. I know that there are plenty more options that could have been made in the poll, but these are the ones I wanted to ask. Seeing as it is MY poll. I am not making anyone discuss why they believe the way they do, what they believe, or if they even believe anything. That isn't the reason for the question.

Dave's lyrics are on a very liberal side, and he himself doesn't claim really any religion. The reason I asked is because I myself am the exact opposite. I am very Conservative, and I am Christian. That doesn't mean that if you are not what I believe, or view things in that way that I do, you are wrong. It doesn't mean that I am wrong either. People that see things in that way are what divide the world even more that it already is, and are the reason why it is where it is at today.

I fell in love with DMB over a decade ago, and fallow them faithfully. (yes there is a reason I used that word) Just because Dave and most of the band is very democrat, and they believe the way they do about things, doesn't change the thing we all have in common. A LOVE FOR THE MUSIC THEY PLAY. My question was just a simple one that doesn't need to be read into deeply, no ulterior motives here. I wanted to see the array of fans. What would you consider yourself? That is why the poll is called which of these would you say YOU are? If none of them, that is fine, YOU DON'T HAVE TO ANSWER. I have no way of seeing who voted which option, nor do I care to see that. I wanted to see what types of people listen to the band. If you don't agree with me that Your Political point of view and your Religious beliefs categorize us, I am sorry. They do, the world proves it over and over everyday. That isn't my intent here if it was, why would I be the first to categorize myself and answer the poll first. I am not profiling anyone... it is answer at your own CHOICE.... I could go on, but I don't need too.

Thank you to the people that understood the intent and reason behind the poll, and even those who didn't understand it, but were not offended by it.

What's out of line and confusing to me is asking people in a DMB discussion board their political and religious preference when in theory asking this information in another context may be considered unconstitutional. Don't get excited, I'm not saying that THIS instance is that big of a deal. I just was surprised to see a post like this. 8)

But why is it dumb??? I am asking a GENERAL Question to the DMB community, so why is it dumb to place it in the GENERAL DMB thread? If you was curious about something, wouldn't you ask??? I am not asking ANYONE to EXPLAIN why they view things the way they do, just wondered how you view yourself, and of all those people how many are DMB Fans. That is why I made it a poll, and not just a question that you had to explain anything... if you don't want to vote DON'T... I don't care if you do or don't.... I am not taking anything personal.. and I am glad that you posted how you feel. I am not claiming you making fun or anything like that. That is what makes this thread and community great... Peoples views and thoughts. i am just asking you, why is it Dumb, or why it is so wrong to ask people to volunteer their thoughts and beliefs... not putting anyone on the spot. Not making you come in here and have to say something because you did. Just asking a question... mine had to do with personal things, what if it was what is your favorite color. That too is personal, and if the others in the comminity want to share great... if not.. than don't. Please understand that I am not singleing you out or saying this to you directly.... I am just saying this in general, an you have been kind enough and brave enough to voice your opinion... That is awesome.
