I didn't say John didn't become addicted to heroin. John and Yoko, after being so hounded by the press, they started to snort a little heroin. John then wrote his first drug song about it, Cold Turkey. He took it to the Beatles, and wanted to do it as a single. The others didn't really dig it. So John said, fuck that then, I'll do it myself. So after they did Abbey Road, John released it.

The beatles did heavy drugs, john did a LOT of heavey drugs, but didn't write any good songs on them, and recorded crap stuff on them. They did record and write on mild drugs like pot, but not on acid or crack or heroin.

How do you know, what makes you think you have such fool proof inside information, I think thats what everybodys problem is with you. You come off like you spent every waking minute with the beatles (and DMB) when you tell stories like these.

how did john write any songs that werent worth a shit while he was addicted to heroin, he was addicted in the mid to late sixties, when some really good shit was recorded. when you are a junkie, you dont choose when to do it, you do it all of the time so you dont get sick, so john was definitely high on "hardcore drugs" when they wrote some good music, i dont see where your basis in this arugment is, and why it is such a big deal to you. some of the best music/literature/art has been created while under the influence of hardcore drugs. Edgar Allan Poe, was able to write the shit he did because he use to take opium and would have horrid nightmares while on it and wake up and right down his dreams. Hendrix created music, while high on acid because of the "cosmic experience" he said he got while on the drug. it's a fact just because you are against drug use doesnt mean some of the people who you hold as music idols didnt do any "hardcore drugs" while producing said music.

I think this is his reasoing, hes against drugs, his idols indulged in drugs and hes trying to convince himself that they didnt write any music on drugs because that upsets him.

a vast majority of good musicians did drugs, but you can still idolize them who gives a shit, you dont have to do everything they did, the only reason i idolize musicians is because of what they do in studio and onstage. with hislogic if you idolized mike vick as a quarterback you would go out and try to get herpes. who cares what there vices were

Yea, I am an ass, actually. I think this entire thread is really pointless because people complain every new album about it being different. well no shit guys. I didn't even keep up with the beatles stuff because i don't care if they did drugs or not, they're good fuckin' music

umm stand up is definately gonna sound different and will take some time to get used to...but the band has changed on every album...its inevitable...look at btcs til everyday, then into busted stuff...its just a new direction for the band, don't expect everything to sound the same...i'm excited for stand up and i'm happy to see hello again is on the album good live jam.
