I think you have to appreciate sadness, irony and love to have a real grasp on the genius of Radiohead. I can totally be content in being depressed. Emotions are what you do with them. Dmb and R.H. mirror one another, complete happiness and sadness. Tough to match them up.

Yeah, that's kind of what I meant about their totally different approaches to songwriting. I can't listen to Radiohead for too long of a stretch at a time for that reason. Not that that's bad, they're just really, really fucking good at what they do.

I listened to a lot of their stuff before really liking them. Once I heard The Bends album it was a different story. OK computer is a pretty good album but check The Bends out before you make up your mind. It changed my opinion of Radiohead 100%.

Doesn't he frequently compare his band to the Beetles? I like Oasis but you gotta laugh at that.

the thing, for me at least, about radiohead is that it's siutational music. there are certain moods, certain types of days, where radiohead is better then anything else(including DMB, painful as it is to write). but i can't listen to radiohead everyday, like i can with DMB. i think if i were forced to listen to radiohead everyday I would probably end up slitting my wrist. if dave were to pay tribute to radiohead what song do you think he would do? and am i crazy or does this answer vary depending if it's him and friends/him/solo or with the band. i'd love to see what one radiohead song the band would choose, because they would definatley work it out to bring out the best in everyone.

I like a lot of Oasis, but Jesus Fucking Christ were they overrated while they were around.

Good music pushed out by an incredible marketing gimmick. And it's good music. Not great music. Not genius, not a whole lot of creativity, but some good songwriting.

I've been a fan of RH since I heard creep for the first time.
Pablo Honey was and amazing album for its time. Now It would seem like a rather rock-pop album to most people, but remember that it was release 13 years ago. Even today many bands try to copy that raw sound it has, but they hardly succeed.
I guess tha's RH's trademark, they are always a decade ahead all the other bands.
The best way to describe radiohead for me is saying that I'm pretty sure that I will be listening to them in 20 years or more, but it will be the music coming out of my kid's stereo.
They are the pink floyd of our generation.
If you are have just started to listen to RH, remember that OK computer, Amnesiac, KID A and Hail to the chief are conceptual albums. You have to listen to the whole album without any stop. I bet that maybe you even like it the first time, but after a couple of spins it is gonna stay in your head forever.

Very well put brock, they are sooo good. I think of Dark Side of the Moon as Waters' take on life in general...the boring, dull days, going through the motions, etc. OK Computer is much the same way in that there is a message of "let's not let everyone get turned into money-making-workaholics" in many of its tunes. But RH is so beyond any band's league as far as creativity goes it's rediculous.

Dave's "Too High" reminds me so much of Radiohead's "Climbing Up The Walls," I wouldn't be surprised at all if Dave had that song in mind when he wrote it. And every time Dave sings "Rain down on me" or the like, which he does quite frequently, I think "Paranoid Android." Just stuff that reminds me of other stuff, OK Computer, I guess.
