Germany and the Dave Matthews Band

Unread post by goodboy85 » Thu Mar 10, 2005 8:17 am

What really is on my mind when think of DMB and the people und and music here is, why in my country almost nobody knows dave matthews band, and the people i show their music then don´t like it that much..
they aren´t on tv here or on the radio and that´s something i really don´t get..
i think that´s maybe because of the way he´s singing because that´s maybe the american style but then why do i like them..
strange

man, there's the same situation all over Europe (maybe England is a bit different)...let's hope something is gonna change w/ their new album...we can hope in some festivals (like lisboa 2006...here's the link to sign the petition http://www.petitiononline.com/DMBRIR/petition.html )...if they dont start spreading their music this way, we'll never see em playing in Europe...

I think if people don't listen to it because he sings too american then that sucks, but I understand. I think that people haven't been exposed to DMB as much as they could, I know a lot of people inm Germany are into similar music, so i'm sure if DMB was played more often they would pick up on it.
When I was staying with my friends in Germany I remember them playing some awesome german music and german hip hop, drunk as shit driving home form the bars, and ever though I couldn;t understand it, I still really liked it.

It's also hard to understand why Germany like David Hasselhoff. Different strokes for different folks.

People must realize DMB is not on the levels of U2, Yanni or Michael Jackson in the sense that they aren't world renowned. They are a US based band & they have their hands full with demand here in the US. Look how many shows sell out here in a matter of seconds. They could double amount the concerts in the US & still sell out. Bottom line is I think they need to please the US before they head elsewhere.

when I was in europe, just about every country was playing Ashlee Simpson/ Brittney sdpears 24hrs a day on the radio. The only good music i'd say that is huge in most of Europe would be green day.

My opinion, being from England, is that out country ( maybe europe) just suck when it comes to music. For some reason, 97 freakin percent of the country only listens to poppy shit. Like Britney/Robbie Williams/Westlife/ The Cheeky Girls :D the list goes on. When i finally come across someone who likes bands it such a breath of freash air.
Its not just the Dave Matthews Band either, people i love also like Ben Folds, Counting Crows, Ryan Adams, Howie Day noone or very few have heard of these bands. Pop culture i suppose.
How i wish i could change the world.

I can only assume lower than Englands. Im sure Brock will come in here any minute & give you a statistic or something. I bought a 2 bedroom home for $109,000 in 2003. It is now valued at $163,000.

I thik the prices are reasonable. I make approx. $50,000 a year, single, and I live very well. Come on over.

Police work is real easy to get but they pay close to minimum wage. A starting salary here in Va Beach for a police office is under $30,000 last time I checked. Ive heard of some starting at $34,000. But, a professional sports player gets millions. :)

Yes, the priorities of this country are fucked.
