Chris Hani in part, apartheid in part too.

Very similar to Peter Gabriel's song Biko in the sense that both deal with African men who were killed for senseless reasons.
~ And rain washed away all her tears and I smiled done away was the sum of all my fears ~

Theres a movie called "Cry Freedom". I haven't seen it but i think the stories are closely related
"Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds" - Albert Einstein

"They are ill discoverers that think that there is no land if they see nothing but a sea." —Francis Bacon

"Cry Freedom" is a song about everyone living in peace and happiness, motivated by Dave's living in South Africa and dealing with apartheid. Dave has recently admitted that the inspiration for the song came from deceased anti-apartheid leader, Steven Biko and the movie of the same name.

Actualy, this isn't recent. I bet they just havn't ever updated that site. He said that many years ago. I used to have it with some Dave Speak stuff I had, but then dumped the audio to make way for space on my old computer. But yeah, I forget the guy's name. In the song, he talks directly about him in the 2nd verse.

cry freedom is not about chris hani at all. thats #36.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

It started out as hani hani and then switched to honey honey. I haven't the foggiest idea when the transition occured, although I think it happened sometime when the lyrics were changed from unintelligible babble and scatting (Red Rocks) to that of a school dance (Listener Supported).

dave said that the song sounded to "happy" musically. That's why he switched it from Hani, Hani to Honey, Honey.

couldnt agree more, a lot of life is really nice, but there are some parts of it that are horrible, and at times it seems like the bad is beating the good

Agreed, Ranting. But I'm ok, because I recycle. And I've only murdered a few people.
