How big are the DMB?

Unread post by Elliottman » Sun Oct 24, 2004 6:22 am

Hey, as i keep saying, im from the UK, so dont have a huge insight to the DMB. So could you tell me actually how big are they. In terms of popularity, sales etc? Could you give me some examples, like who are they on a par with? Are they in top 5 bands in America?
Let me know.
Thanks

just trying to pull something outta memory, i think t hey are the #1 touring band in America, not the #1 grossing, but they're up there for that too i think.

they are easily one of the most popular bands in America. they're kinda low profile though. they seem to not really be out there (in terms of publicity) a lot. but when a show comes around it shows how popular they are.

to give you a quick number....last year at the Central Park concert, they played for over 100,000 people. and they can easily sell out 3 consecutive nights at huge amphitheatres like the Gorge, or Giants Stadium (and that's SELL OUT for 3 consecutive nights)

dunno if that's what you're looking for, i'm sure someone else can post something too

theyre huge, they dont get publicity until a new studio album comes out, but as far as everything goes theyre huge.... they can get thousands and thousands of people at a concert, like he said central park last year was 100,000+, and woulda been more had the size of the great lawn inhibited the size. theyre records go platnum fast, they win allot of grammys. its not a fanbase of people running around yelling "i love DMB i love DMB" its like a community of friends youve never met. its really cool over here.

The DMB on the 2004 tour had I think it was 5.2 million tickets sold. They got second. Prince had like 5.7.

They are really poplular but they dont get much publicity and I dont know why. Either TV stations dont like him or Dave doesnt like the TV stations.

Boyd Tinsley came to a book store in my town last fall as a promo for his solo album.

Occasionly you see a DMB video or some reference to them but not normally anything big like a lot of other artists get.

Sometimes I watch an hour long show just to see a minute of Dave on screen. Sounds kind of weird but hes not on that much so I watch every chance I get.

There's no way they'd sell out 3 nights in a row at Giants Stadium.

Last year they were the second in that amount of money they made with touring. I believe somewhere upwards of 85 million.

A lot of people like the DMB. It just depends on who you talk to. But normally yes if you like him your not considered "cool". But DMB is much better than the crap they listen to though.

no they most certainly have not. They've played 3 nights in a row at Giants Stadium, but they have never sold out 3 nights in a row (not in 2000 or 2001).
