Stone Float came in a bar/tavern/club to do an opening act. They didn't know anything about the main act, and they haven't gotten there yet. So, they set up their stuff, and has seen people wisper to eachother about something. Then, halfway through their set, a big taxi pulls up with other cars. Out steps . . . BOYD! Him, Dave's guitar tech, and others come in with a few instruments. They sit down and listen. Stone Float looked, and knew who it was. The first thing they say to eachother was, "holy shit! Nick should be here!" If you don't know, when people don't call me RTh, I am known as Nick. The band was psyched out, knowing who they were. They approached them afterwards, and boyd was loving their stuff and the fusion of rock and poetry. Then, boyd and crew got up on stage and jammed for a few hours. They were going to try and get me an autograph, but never had the appropriate chance to (that wasn't going to be rude or annoying). This was a day before DMB played at the Kohl Center for the Vote For Change Tour. I was told this, and I kept saying, damn and fucking hell! I was shocked, delighted, and pissed I wasn't there!
Note to people, when dmb is in town, try stopping by bars and clubs and asking who's going to be playing that night
