10/3 Vote For Change- Extensive Review

My God, was it a great show.

I got to the Palace with about 2 hours until 6:00, so myself and the group I was with stood out kind of by the buses, not really expecting anything to happen. All of the sudden, I saw Boyd walk out into his bus, and I started watching more carefully. So, then Leroi came out, and Carter, and Butch, and last Dave came out when Ben Harper arrived to greet him. When Dave walked back into the bus, a group next to us yelled "DAVE!" and he muist have thought it was my group, because he turned around and waved right as us.. I waved back like an exicted little bitch.

Ok, onto the show part...

My Morning Jacket and Ben Harper sucked. Harper had a song called "Burn one Down" or somthing, and everyone around me started...burning one down. Even these fucking fat girls. Gross. Jurassic 5 was surprisingly great. My favorite opener.

And then DMB began.

One Sweet World
Very cool, pretty mellow, but it had a very positive vibe.

Granny
Awesome. I really wanted to see this song, and it didn't dissapoint. With my girlfriend in one arm and patting my good friend next to me on the back, it uplifted me so much.

Don’t Burn The Pig
At this point, I knew this show would be phenomenal. Dave messed up the words on almost all of the verses and started to go into the pre-chourus early once, but it was sweet never the less

Joy Ride
The Best new song, in my opinion. Dave broke a string on the last chorus.

Song That Jane Likes
I love the song, but it was just a normal performance.

(Extended Intro) Don’t Drink the Water
The intro was kind of eerie, and the DDTW was sweet. Dave said a little earlier in the show that his voice was hoarse, and during the wails it showed, but it sounded very cool.. Like, an "in distress" kind of scream.

Tripping Billies
Here's another one I really wanted to see. A little slowed down from the CD version, but that didn't make a difference. Super performance.

Hello Again
Another good performance. Carter's mini-drum solo consisited of some pretty fast and very clean double-bass work.

Stay
A good solid performance

Sugar Will
I like this a lot better than when I saw it in Cincinnatti earlier this summer. It was a good time for a rest, as all of the songs had been upbeat so far.

This is the point where I saw a music stand or something being brought out. I thought it could be a guest, but I was trying to think realistically and figured it was for Boyd. All of the sudden, F'in Neil Young comes out. Oh yeah.

All Along The Watchtower *
The energy on this song was out fo control. at one point, the crowds reaction was almost overpowering the music. Neil may look like the Crypt Keeper, and he may have been wearing awful white clothes, and may have had the worst stage antics..he rocked. The version was different than normal, it started out heavy, and stayed like that until the end of the middle jam. Dave and Neil repated the line "Two riders are approaching" many times. I figured they meant Kerry and Edwards. Amazing song.

Cortez The Killer *
Neil sang for most of this, you know, considering that it was his song. Good emotional solos.

Rockin in the Free World *+
This prompted a huge sing-along, at least from my part of the crowd. I think Neil's amp blew up, becasuse the last 1/4 of the song, I could distinguish notes on his guitar, it just sounded like noise.

What Would You Say
Normal Performance, but it was better than I thought it'd be live.

Too Much
Sweet performance, with the half-time solo and Lil' Jon outro.

Show rate 9.5/10. I was just hoping for either Ants Marching or SMTS into Rapunzel. But I'm not complaining.

To anyone who was there, di you see any tapers, cause I didn't, and if there weren't any, I'd be disapointed.

i thought pretty much the same

sugar will really didn't cut it though for me...half the crowd sat down and it was just too extended for me

ben got really great reactions from most of the crowd...i just personally don't get too into his live act i guess

my morning jacket though, i thought they were great...after their first song, i was really into it...my god can their guitar player play

Sounds great! I wish I could have gone but family commitments got it the way. I almost shit myself when I heard the next day that Neil Young was there. Billies and DBTP would have made it complete for me!
