Favorite Dave Era?

Unread post by Onebadmofo » Tue Feb 18, 2003 10:53 am

So....what is your favorite ERA of dave? Is it the early 90's when he was breaking on the scene. Or the mid 90's with a few hit albums under his belt and rising popluarity. How bout the late 90's with an established touring career and so many great songs written. And lastly, present day Dave, with his new sound and attitude.

I have to say during the mid era, because although I love the early dave (RTT), during the time of RR, or more importantly LS, they had the perfect blend going on of ARSENAL, CHARISMA, and Improvability...i.e. SEEK UP (RR), or the awsome TWO STEP (LS)...sigh...we may never see it again... :(

wow...talk about a run on sentance huh?

hey MOFO ( ), why don't you answer my post on what we want to hear from D&T on the new CD???

Oh I'm going to get flamed for this to be sure...

I'm definately going with the BTCS "Dave Era"

Don't get me wrong...I'm an avid fan of ALL the albums (yes, Everyday does have some redeeming qualities) and I was more than ecstatic with last summer's release of Busted Stuff. However, for some reason Before These Crowded Streets is still holding on to the top of my list.

To me the music is very vibrant - it has so much life. There are so many layers to each song it's really easy to lose yourself in the music. Even after almost 5 years I can still listen to that CD and find something I had never noticed before. Certainly this was a result of all the guests on the album but what's wrong with that? We ALL know DMB is perfectly capable of standing alone. They really didn't have to release Busted Stuff to prove that (though, again, I'm glad they did).

Before These Crowded Streets just demonstrated so much versatility in the band. The entire album is a kind of melting pop of sound and styles...

I sure wouldn't mind another one of those albums...

I think it's hilarious that you mentioned you're a fan of all the albums and you didn't even mention UTTAD or RTT...for the love of god man UTTAD is a mainstay of any Dave fan's collection....its just blasphemous...lol

Um...I'm not really sure how to respond to this one....but it was my intention that by saying I'm a fan of ALL albums it included ALL albums...which meant Under The Table and Remember Two Things.

ALL albums...

Yes, even Everday....

True but woulnd't L@LC be considered the Mid Era because the show was from 1996? I know it was released in 1999 (am I right? was it 1999?).

But I feel it would have captured Dave's music in the year and "era" it was recorded.

Just a thought.

Peace,

shit I like all the eras now that I think about it.

I mean...the rawness of the early DMB.

Crash and that D&T tour in the mid 90's

BTCS from the next era (nuff said!)

and they way that the band has really come together from there up to know. The way that Stefan has come out of the shadows a little more is the best thing form this era. (IMHO)

about btts

its a great album with so many styles
i mean look at this

the last stop - an aztec vibe
ddtw - tribal/native inspired
stay - africaan style
halloween - definitely one of daves darkest tunes
crush - very jazzy

it basically has songs with completely different influences from all over the world
i think they experimented with this album more than any other

and you gotta respect what they came out with

Everybody always asks me how she's doing. Has she really lost her mind? I said "I couldn't tell you, I've lost mine."

the good old days

Unread post by pjsim15 » Wed Feb 19, 2003 2:28 am

The early 90's were really cool, the way they were searching for their sound, but the Under The Table, Crash and L@LC years are what DMB means to me. The songs sounded so much fuller with Tim. I really miss the chet and the "old" days.
