Re: Interesting
I was really excited to download this on itunes today and was COMPLETELY disappointed... As a recording engineer, the first thing that struck me was how shitty the mix was. It was utter shit, really muddy and the guitars sounded like crap. Horrible mix, and the electric guitar was nothing but annoyingly scattered riffs (I don't know what I was expecting from Santana B-Sides...). What a fucking letdown.

I can't stand Santana. I don't even want to listen to it.

Re:
I went to Beloit College in Beloit, WI. You probably know where Beloit is since you are in Chicago. I didn't go to a recording school or anything, one of the professors at the college owns a studio there in town, I found out about it because he started offering an intro to recording class when I got there. I really enjoyed it and asked him if I could keep working in there when I finished the class, he trusted me enough to let me and he gave me a key to the place. I spent pretty much every waking minute of free time in there during my 5 years of school and ran the studio for him after a year or so working in there. It was a really fortunate opportunity for me, especially since I learn better by getting strait hands on experience and I had a studio to myself most of the time.skilly wrote:where did you go to school? and where do you work?
I finished school in October and I just moved out to the San Francisco bay area about a month ago, so I'm in the process of looking for a job. But I do have a decent studio setup in the house right now so I can continue working on a few projects. Right now I'm mixing a project that I recorded at the studio in Beloit in October. The bands music is going go in a documentary that's set to go to Sundance next year, so I'm pretty excited about that!
