A request for help
Greetings everyone! This is my first post here; I've been a lurker here for a while now, and learned a few DMB songs from the tabs listed on the site over the years. Being an average (or below average, perhaps) rhythm guitar player, I'm in awe of what Dave can do with an acoustic, and I love everything that he's done with Tim Reynolds, but his solo CD and live work with Tim is as far as my knowledge goes with him, which leads me to my dilemma and request for help.
Later this month I'm seeing DMB live here in California with a good friend of mine who also happens to be of the female persuasion and the person who bought my ticket for me (I'm a bit tight on money this month). She's a huge DMB fan, and I don't want to seem like a jerk or ungrateful or anything, but I'm afraid that most of what I'm going to hear at the concert will be completely new to me. That's my dilemma. I was hoping that the community here could recommend a list of songs I could listen to in the next 19 days to help me familiarize myself with DMB more and prepare me for the concert so as to not seem like a jerk or anything. That's my request. Please help!

Whenever she says something like "Wow, I can't believe they played that song" just look at her and say "I know, right?" and then wink twice.

Well, you gotta listen to Everyday and Stand Up, too, so you know when to scoff/go for beers/take a piss.

Those are by far the best studio albums they've put out but I would recommend also checking out some live releases like The Central Park Concert, Live at Red Rocks 8.15.95, or Live Trax, Vol. 1
Just so ya know, you'll have a good time regardless of whether or not you go through the whole DMB catalog before the show. You definitely won't be the only person there with little to no knowledge of Dave Matthews songs. It's encouraging to see someone putting forth an effort to know the band they're going to see though. Welcome to the site

Download the Rothbury or Mile High webcasts. Those are a pretty good prediction of what your going to get at your show + good quality...

Re: A request for help
One of the shows at red rocks I got pretty drunk for the opener and on the tail end of my sloppyness, DMB started to play. Apparently I started yelling "PLAY YOUR BODY IS A WONDERLAND! OMG DO YOU THINK HE'LL PLAY IT???? I LUUUUUV THAT SONG!"Easy E wrote:atleast six times during the show, make sure you yell out "YEAH DAVE, WOOOOOOOO!!!!" or "WATCHTOWER!!!"
and
"I got 10 bucks the next song is daughters. You can only go so long without playing your best song ya know?"
