I saw Dave & Friends at the Fleet Center last week. It's was simply the best show and concert night I've ever had.
The minute tickets went on sale, I attempted to get good seats. I've been to the Fleet Center before, and I always seem to get nosebleed seats no matter what I do. Well, this time, I couldn't even get seats facing the stage. The only tickets available were the rear of the stage. I kept getting row 11, lodge (the lower and best seating at the FC, besides the floor) or way up high. I figured there is no way I am gonna miss this show, so I get as close as I can, which was section 18, row 11. I of course fretted the entire time that I would not be able to see, but again, I am going to this show no matter what.
We get to the FC, and head to our seats, expecting the worst. We walk to our section, and I am almost ON the stage. No way. So I figure my seats are probably way back. Because they cut off seating for the stage, row 11 was ROW ONE. This can't be happening. I can almost reach out and touch the piano there. And since were were slightly elevated, we didn't have to crane our necks looking up. So now I am really getting excited. We have a perfect view since the stage is fully open. Also, we are right by the stage entrance/exit. It's about 5 feet away.
Then the opener, Emmylou Harris came out of the side door and was standing by the stairs. About a minute later, DAVE WALKS OUT and starts talking to her. Then they both walk up the stairs, and he hits the stage and introduces her. As he is walking back, he is heading right for us. He gets about five feet away and the girl next to me screams I LOVE YOU DAVE and he mouths back, without missing a beat, "I love you too." She nearly fainted, and proceeded to call everyone she knew.
Anyways, the view was great. The only bummers where when Dave or Tim sat on the stools. Other than that, they moved all around and were always looking back at us. I'd say with the exception of the first 5 rows, and having to see them from behind occasionally, we had some of the best seats in the house. 15-20 feet away all night long, and a completely open view. It almost felt like we were on the stage, we were so close.
It was an amazing show,
Thanks for listening, and hello. I had to share my story with someone.
