Warehouse Tickets - Real vs Fraudulent

Unread post by dmbfaninmass » Thu Jun 11, 2009 3:21 pm

Hey all. My oh my what a long strange trip it's been. I used to be on these boards (mostly the playing daves parts boards) all the time, and this is my first time back in years. I've got a question. I just agreed to meet someone tomorrow at SPAC - she has WH tickets that she's selling b/c she arranged to buy someone else's WH tickets that are even better than hers. She asked me how to spot a fake WH ticket and I didn't have the answer. I felt as though if someone was trying to scalp fake tickets, they'd probably make fake regular tickets b/c as i recall WH tix usually have silver foiling and rather cool background pics.... and this person she's buying them from isn't upping the price at all. so my thought was first off if someone's trying to unload WH tix and isn't charging a premium they're probably real b/c potentially you could make a hell of a profit if you're a dirt bag trying to make loot on a sale. and secondly if they were trying to scam someone and they aren't charging above face value they probably wouldn't bother going through what appears to more than likely be a more painstaking task of making a fake WH ticket as opposed to just a regular ticket. Anyone have any advice on how to spot a fake WH ticket?

yeah, i wasn't alluding to them being worth more. i was just curious if anyone knew how to spot a fake. i know on occassion someone will buy a ticket in the lots of make a deal on craigslist etc only to find out when trying to enter the venue they've purchased a fake and are left out of the show. i was just thinking that if someone was to make a fake ticket, they'd probably make a fake ticketbastard or livenation ticket to avoid what i would assume would be a more challening process of re-creating a WH ticket b/c of the background picture on the ticket and the silver foil lettering etc. and i was also alluding to if someone was selling a fake to make a shady profit, that they would have the opportunity to sell for a higher than face value ticket price ala scalping. however, the SPAC shows have come and gone. I bought my tickets from my new friend and she got her tickets and we all got into the show without a problem.. all tix were real and we had a blast. thanks for taking a moment to read and reply but i think you missed the point of my post. haha. no worries though as i said.
