My Atlanta Review (Video Clip of #41 and full Idea of You)
Wow, I just have to say that that was the best DMB show I have been to. Dave's voice was spot on, he hit the yells and falsettos. I can't recall a spot were he messed up. Whatever was wrong with his voice in Florida was gone. It seemed like a longer then usual show, the energy was amazing.
PNP to rappunzel really set things off, always a good opener, i've never had it so that was nice.
I kind of just sat there when he started playing Crash next, but for some reason I really enjoyed it and got chills at a few points, it was a good performance of the song and I enjoyed it regardless of how overplayed it is.
Say goodbye was good as always, satellite was not the best I've heard it but it wasnt bad, I don't really remember anything about it.
Idea of You was next, yay! This was the only song I wanted to hear tonight and I got it all on video, I'll post that later but it's not a great video... They had Boyd playing along with Dave on the verses which adds a lot and sounds better in my opinion, anyways that made my night.
We got a stand up tripple after that. I don't like hunger but it was listenable, I love Bayou and I have to say that that was one of the best versions I have heard, so much energy and Boyd tore it up, a big highlight of the night. You might die trying was fun, I liked it, it sucks on the cd...
Break Free was great, it looked like Rashawn was going to blow a bubble in the trumpet, he always adds a lot to that song. Always nice to hear another good new song.
So Much to say/ Anyone seen the bridge/ Too Much is my all time favorite DMB run and it didn't let me down this time either, although it seemed like the anyone seen the bridge jam was a little short.
Can't Stop just dosnt do it for me and i saw half the venue sit down and you could hear everyone talking. It was better then other versions I have heard of it but that's not saying much. It's a good thing it was a good show to offset that garbage... At least Fonz looked like he was having fun.
Warehouse is always a great song, that intro with the pauses always gets me excited. Can't think of anything else to say about it, it was gooood.
Dave did well on Dreamgirl, it was a great version of it, I was happy it didn't suck.
#41 is were the madness starts, you need to listen to it to realize this. Bella and the flecks came out as most of you know by now. Dave preatty much finished playing the song and carter kept going. Dave stood up there looking at everyone and just shrugged his shoulders waiting for someone to start jamming, it was funny. I think Jeff started out on sax and he was all over the place with that thing. Very fun to watch him waving that thing around, he did a great job. Bella went ape shit though on that banjo, I just stood there and soked up the greatness. Download #41 when you can, my god it was great. Right when things calmed down and you thought it was done, Carter starts hitting off on the snare and they go right into ants. You need to listen to this to understand, nothing I say will give these two last songs justice. It's worth your time to download them.
So they finished, Dave came back out and played Sister. Again, I was happy to hear this live and Dave did a good job.
I like Grey Street and JTR about the same so I knew which ever one he was going to play when he pulled out the 12 string, I was going to be happy. JTR started kind of sluggish for some reason but picked up well by the time the jams came in.
As if the show didn't have enough energy, they close with Billies. Good choice for this show, it closed it out with a bang.
All in all, like I said, this was the best show I have been too. I came to that conclusion before Bela and the flecks came out, they just put the best fucking icing you have ever had on an already amazing cake. For a show I walked into not expecting much and just hoping for Idea of You, I got the best show I have been too. I give the band and the flecks major props also for playing so hard when it was so fucking hot and humid. It rained a little bit before the show and the humidity just did not go away. I was soaking wet when I walked out, i can't imagine how much weight they all lost standing under those lights. I'm I going to far by saying that this show is one of the top 5 of the tour?
-EDIT- Here's some video I took of the first minute or so of #41. I would of gotten more but security saw me and I had to ditch it... Sorry.

Here's a full video of Idea of You that was played that night. I put audio over it from Jake Brock's tape. Not the best location to take a video but it's better then nothing.

-EDIT- I tried putting in the code thing from youtube so the video would show up on this page but I can't get it to work...

Well, I have a video of Idea of You and like the first minute of #41. I was going to record as much of #41 as I had room for but a security guy saw me and told me to put it away or I was out of there.
. I'll stick the #41 up since the Idea of You is nothing new.

good review man thanks. Sounds like a hell of a show. That 3 stand up run was the only thing that maybe took a tiny bit of gloss of it, but saying that i quite like dreamgirl and dont mind YMDT, ive gone off Bayou.
Im still looking forward to listening to this on LIOG

The stand up run really wasn't that bad, but Bayou is one of my favorites and they had worked out a new jam and end for one of them. It really was not a let down for the show. The only bad part of the show was can't stop, the rest was just non stop goodness.Milligan wrote:good review man thanks. Sounds like a hell of a show. Off of stand up. But I still like it regardless. I don't think I'm going to get the Idea of You clip up unless someone wants to host it, kind of hard to compress an mpeg.bbatsell wrote:Wait... one of your favorite DMB songs or one of your favorite songs off Stand Up?mattinbeloit wrote:The stand up run really wasn't that bad, but Bayou is one of my favorites and they had worked out a new jam and end for one of them.
