No Louisiana Bayou Tonight

Unread post by Mikey » Wed Aug 31, 2005 6:37 pm

That's my prediction. The song doesn't represent Louisiana in a good light, and could be viewed by some as condicending and disrespectful with the recent flooding. What do you guys think?

why would it be disrespectful? im not even sure what i would say to offend people in New Orleans..."hey, isnt your city flooding?" "hey go build an ark"???

im pretty sure dave didnt write the song with the foresight that New Orleans would be hit by a terrible disaster

now, LB may not be played cuz its been played a lot...but that hasnt stopped them from playin other songs

Well it obviously wasn't written about the events going on now, but lines like "two boys lie dead on the side of the road" when hundreds of dead bodies are floating in the streets of New Orleans could be taken the wrong way.

naahhh there will be about 10 people actually listening to the meaning of the words...everyone else will just be excited that he mentioned the Bayou

Plus they might already know the lyrics and realize that it has nothing to do with water of any kind.
