I think that we can all agree that this is a phenomenal show for THIS tour, and a great show overall.

For me, I actually liked night 2 better. But that is besides the point. I dont know how he can say a show is better then another show, without actually hearing the show.

btw, after hearing all the stand up songs live, imo, you all are crazy for thinking this was a shitty tour.

i dont think it was a shitty tour. the music was still great, i just heard alot of the same songs in all 4 of my shows. it was a different tour no doubt. the sets didnt change as much as usual but it was a fair tour.

You werent even there, much less heard it. How can you say something is better when you have yet to hear the product. Someone can say they are going to paint a picture of a bridge (monet), and you will think "whatever, same ol' same ol'" But then actually see the painting, and watch it become one of the most famous pieces of art ever.
I already downloaded it and listened to it, and I also have that Giants Stadium show so I can compare them. There is no way in the world you can say that last nights show was better. It was without question the best show of the tour, but seriously its no contest when you take a look and listen at that Giants Stadium show, that setlist is absolutely ridiculous.

Just about any 2000 show will beat that hands down. They used to play sets like this all the time so I think everyone going nuts over it is more a product of them giving us really shitty setlists on a consistent basis this past year and then all of a sudden coming out with something amazing like this and everyone eating it up.
Thats the importance of this set though. It blew away everyones expectations. Like looking back at 2000 sets, they are amazing. But they didn't really vary from show to show. Even look at an 04 set. Fool To Think, Joy Ride, Sugar Will, Crazy-Easy, STJL, DIDO, Recently, etc. all look alot better now than they did in 04 because we haven't heard these songs (besides a few drive in drive outs), but I'm sure I could find messages of people complaining about them being the same old sets.

I know its not the GREATEST SETLIST OF ALL TIME. But I definatly think its up there for times we are in now. Look how excited everyone is about it on these boards. At a time where DMB fans were selling their tickets, complaining about the uninspired sets, and bitching about the past three albums (myself included on that last one) we get this monster set. I think we as fans needed to see something like this from the band.

I don't remember anyone complaining about sets in 2000. People were incredibly excited about all the new material they were hearing and they couldn't wait for the studio cuts of them. I think people need to calm down about this weekend run. Sure it was great, but it just kinda shows how boring this whole tour has been. They stepped it up for one night out of a whole summer tour and everyone is going nuts over it when they used to have sets like this every night.

difference between this tour and the 2000 tour: this tour is showcasing studio cuts, post studio, 2000 tour was playin the pre-studio versions (one of the reason i think they are better)...imagine if everybody wake up had emphasized that kickass jam at the end? or if bayou had had emphasized its cool jam? or if ab-intro was made into a real song like it is live?

I concede to your arguement Nitro. Well fought.

The setlist itself looks spectacular, undoubtedly.

However, the mere presence of those bitches makes it unbearable to me... #36 is utterly unlistenable with those 3 backing it up, which I re-realized just the other night. I was going to play #36 for my girlfriend who had forgotten what it sounded like. I fire up Listener Supported and we both go "Uuugh! The Lovely Ladies!" as soon as we heard their wailing start, and closed down Winamp. The reaction was natural, complete and utterly sincere. Stay is already bad enough without them screaching over it and JTR may as well as be I Did It as far as listenability goes when they're aboard. Really anything they lay there shitty gospel sound into is FUBAR. The so-called "lovely" ladies really drag down the stock of any setlist, IMO. So yes, great setlist; but the show would be unbearable for me just waiting for them to pounce on a song and fuck it up.

So, please excuse my rant, but for my money and the experience, I'll take night 3 at Red Rocks this year over any show with those hags fucking shit up, including this gem. Sorry.
