i think tonight's set was good
where in my post did I say anything about how good it was? I don't think it was bad either, the bar was just set sooo high and it seems like they didn't come close.

It was quite an energetic show tonight. No downtime except OSW. The highlights I'd say were Grace, Sweet Caroline, Warehouse, PNP>Rapunzel, and ABI. The Two Step was maybe 8 minutes long. It was already 1020 by the time they started the encore. Right after Dave ended singing on two step, they showed carter at the screen pointing to his watch, then it showed dave going over to look at the time I'm presuming, and it looked like he mouth back 'five minutes' or 'ten minutes' but it was '--- minutes' for sure, so they knew about the curfew. Butch had a one minute long solo and then they busted directly into the outro.

Good: Lots of energetic crowd pleasers in a row. No downtime whatsoever. Sweet Caroline sounded great, holy crowd participation. Download this Warehouse. It was rockin', Louie Louie outro, all that cool stuff. Grace is Gone was a good one too, 15 minutes or so with the hoedown.

Neutral: It was mostly all crowd favorites to please the masses. That isn't really a bad thing, but I was secretly hoping for maybe one rare song e.g. JTR, Tree, Raven, and so forth. I've seen all these before sans Sweet Caroline, so it was nothing new to me. The truncated Two Step was lacking too.

So overall it was a fun show, but I wasn't at any point blown away. It will get great reviews in the papers.

the show was decent tonight. the last two nights i dont think lived up to the "expectations" but they were certainly very good.

warehouse tonight was really rock'n, the Loui Loui outro is awesome, and this was the best i've heard.

Two step was pretty short, but it was very energetic. they busted into the outro pretty quick.

overall, pretty good weekend, but not epic.

I agree andrew. Everyone should download this warehouse. I know there is going to be a lot of complaining about these shows not being 'epic' though.

I'd been predicting "OSW opener, Rapunzel closer, Two Step encore" since last night after the first show, so I was a bit disappointed that I was completely correct. The show was predictable for those three songs for me, and i wish they would stop playing freaking warehouse right after nancies. I'm not a massive fan of either of those songs, and it irked me how people still went insane when dave played the warehouse riff, as if it was a first time thing. Anyway.

I was hoping for a harder opener, like too much or a last stop repeat, but OSW was nice. Dave's voice was just the way I like it, and the scats and outro were perfect.

WWYS was standard and good. OSW and WWYS being juxtaposed always reminds me of golden gate park for some reason, and i don't get the best vibe from that show. No matter though.

I really enjoyed DDTW, especially with the prelude. Sounded great, and the prelude was really different/cooler than your typical rumble intro from CP or folsom field.

Say Goodbye was nice. Loooooong Carter intro, thought we were getting an early Halloween for a second, but then my common sense returned.

Grace is Gone was a highlight, surprisingly. They played the typical jam, slowed down, but then sped back up into the Hoedown, which was really well received. Really cool.

American Baby was solid, I was glad that only this and it's intro made the setlist, and there was no dreamgirl debut, thank god.

Break Free was cool. The song itself doesn't seem very unique or original by dmb standards, but the jam was great. I get a You Might Die Trying vibe from it though, as in, sounds good the first few times... then dies out of rotation.

Sweet Caroline -> SMTS -> ASTB -> Too Much was easily the highlight of the show. The crowd went BALLISTIC for Caroline. Every single soul in that stadium was screaming. It's like someone finally rewarded those animals for being Red Sox fans. Dave's voice was great. Got major goosebumps and couldn't help but smile during Caroline, and the segue into SMTS was great. "BUM BUM BUMMM! ... SO GOOD, SO GOOD, SO GOOOD!"

Dunno why they played Can't Stop again. The bass riff is neat, and I like the crunch of the "CAN"T. STOP." part, but the rest of the song is like a slow tune or the falsetto "lately iiiiiiiiii've been feeling low" from Jimi Thing. It confuses me.

Crush was great, but they all are, so yeah.

I would have preferred So Right to What You Are, but it was cool. Hadn't heard it in a while. Not much to say about it.

I'm not a big Nancies fan, especially when it's followed by Warehouse, which it was, like always. Louie Louie was great though. Nancies had a more staccato jam to it, which I did like, however.

I called the Rapunzel closer for night 2 last night. I love the pause where carter doesn't hit the snare and fonzie pulls the B.

Apparently they were running really late at this point. Night 1, the encore break was from 9:55 to 10:03. It was much later for tonight. As such, ABI was shorter than I expected, as was Two Step, which I figured would be 20 minutes long. It was 10 or 12. During Butch's solo dave held up 4 fingers to Carter, then held up 1 finger, and they wrapped it up real quick.

It was a really strong show, but a little predictable for me personally in a few spots. I was also kinda bummed to not hear Dreaming Tree or JTR during either night. I would have taken out Nancies -> Warehouse and replaced them with one or both of those tunes. No Joy Ride either, but that was a long shot. No Shotgun either, which I wanted to hear.

The boys are going strong. I was overhyped for Fenway, but it happens. Glad I was there though. It'd be cool if they released it.

A+ for fans, B+ for me.

seriously. they've releaesed so many shows since i've been seeing them live. and even on the few compilations....I always seem to go to the show before and after where they pick a song to put on a cd.

hopefully Fenway will come out in some form. even if it's a Live Trax. but that is a pretty good possibility

7.5.06

Right before Grey Street, someone threw a stuffed yellow fish on stage and hit Dave in the private area. He made mention of it and then proceeded to pitch the fish to Carter as Carter swung like he was hitting a baseball.
