Short review of last night. Overall, disappointing. The first 12 songs were great. The jam of Jimi was great. Carter went off, followed by Rashawn and Leroi trading horn lines, then Dave scatting at Butch and then Butch scatting over the keys, then Dave scatting, then Carter going off again, then the "Stop baby, what's that sound.." outro.

I don't really like Seek Up. I like the lyrics, but definitely not a 23 minute version of it. Overkill.

From Kill the King on, the show sputtered. Too much Boyd. He was dancing all around during the end and he was terribly off key during Bayou I think. He just sucks. It's not the Boyd Tinsley Band. He is fine in the background, but not upfront.

I know it's beating a dead horse, but a few points.
-Baritone guitar needs to go. The only good songs on that are Some Devil, So Right and What You Are. Nothing else.
-Boyd needs to relax and maybe get better equipment for tuning.
-The whole frat boy/hippie fan scene really kills it for me. I just can't stand it and the dude behind me kept trying to start a "OLE, OLE, OLE" chant like we were at a soccer game. Gay.

I figure if they played shit last night, tonight can only be better.

Completely agree on those last points. I hate the electric guitar. Boyd has not been good, and yes the scene at shows is getting worse and worse with each year.

It's concerts in general. I'm not much for drinking at shows, so maybe that's why I get annoyed. But it just sucks to be sitting there and the drunk assholes in front of you won't shut up, keep bumping you and just make it an all around bad time. Plus they played WHERE ARE YOU GOING?

one quick point. I thought I heard Butch soundchecked "You Can Call Me Al" and I know that Paul Simon played in Milwaukee on Saturday night.

Agree with everything said above. Disapointed with the lack of respect many "fans" have for the band and the people around them. The set had some high points, but not quite enough to make it the show that I thought the band was going to produce for one of their "favorite places to play".

Dave fucked up Ants, too, at the end. Bummer

And the crowd replied, "TO THE FUCKING PARKING LOT!!!!!!"

I was so pissed when I heard that song, only the potential for a great encore kept me in my seat. Even the encore was lackluster. Tonight they better make it up to us or else I may have to buy tickets for the Hanson reunion tour to get my entertainment. I'm talking a night with joy ride, DT, warehouse, nancies, LIOG, STJL, Hello Again, 41, Last Stop, Stone, GGT, JTR, AB Intro, Rapunzel, Say Goodbye, Two Step, Watchtower, Busted Stuff, Raven, SUAD, with an I Did It, Sleep to Dream Her encore. Just kidding on the encore part.....but I expect this kind of performance tonight or I guess I'll be mmm-bopping sometime in the near future.

Some of you guys are so fussy. By no means all, but a select few. The band pull out some new tunes that most people like, they pull out some totally rare stuff that people nuts about, then after one or two shows that arent as spectacular, the band get hammered for it.
Gotta make up you minds - some, not all i must stress.

I agree, however when it happens at the shows that you are actually there for, it sucks. Especially when I've been accustomed to seeing such amazing shows at Alpine for the last several years. Last night was Busch League in comparison to years past at Alpine and even some of the shows this tour. It is OK to be critical of a band that you love, what I said dosen't mean that I hate DMB, and the Hanson thing was sarcasm. We the fans are the bands boss, so when we get pissed about something they do, it is within our rights to bitch. Think of how you would feel if they had an American tour full of amazing sets, and then they came over to your venue and played a set full of radio favorites and Stand Up songs.
